Part 3 - Line 4a

THE KEIRA GRACE FOUNDATION (KGF) CONTINUED IMPROVING THE CARE OF CHILDREN WITH CANCER IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. SINCE THE FOUNDING OF KGF IN 2005, OVER 500 CHILDREN HAVE BENEFITED FROM OUR PROGRAMS AND CURE RATES FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER HAVE STEADILY IMPROVED. THE MOST DRAMATIC EXAMPLE OF THIS HAS BEEN THE CONTINUED SUCCESS OF THE NEW TREATMENT REGIMEN FOR ACUTE LYMPHOCYTIC LEUKEMIA (ALL), THE MOST COMMON FORM OF CANCER AMONG CHILDREN. WHEN OUR WORK IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC FIRST BEGAN, MOST CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH ALL IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC DIED WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR AND LESS THAN 20% WERE EVENTUALLY CURED. SINCE JANUARY 2008, WHEN OUR NEW TREATMENT PROTOCOL FOR ALL WAS INSTITUTED, OVER 90% OF CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH ALL WERE ALIVE AND IN REMISSION.
