MORE THAN FORTY YEARS AGO, COMMUNITY-CENTERED KINDNESS BROUGHT THE UPPER VALLEY HOSTEL, NOW MAYNARD HOUSE, TO LIFE IN THE HEART OF THE TOWN OF HANOVER, NH. MAYNARD HOUSE IS A 501(C)3 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS TO REMOVE BARRIERS TO HEALTHCARE BY PROVIDING LOW-COST (OFTEN WAIVING THE FEE ENTIRELY FOR THOSE IN NEED), HOME-LIKE LODGING AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO PATIENTS AND THEIR LOVED ONES COPING WITH MEDICAL TREATMENT NEEDS. WORKING HAND-IN-HAND WITH THE UPPER VALLEY COMMUNITY IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AND VERMONT, WE PROVIDE A PLACE WHERE GUESTS CAN FEEL SAFE AND COMFORTABLE WHILE FOCUSING ON CRUCIAL HEALTH PRIORITIES. THE 2022 FISCAL YEAR HAS BROUGHT MANY CHANGES AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR MAYNARD HOUSE. WITH A NEW EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM IN PLACE, WE HAVE SHIFTED OUR FOCUS TO PIVOTING TOWARD THE POSITIVE IN OUR EFFORTS TO FOCUS ON THE HUMAN SIDE OF HEALTHCARE FOR PATIENTS AND THEIR LOVED ONES DURING DIFFICULT TIMES, EVEN WHEN THEY ARE FAR AWAY FROM THEIR HOME BASE. DESPITE TWO SEPARATE, ONE MONTH CLOSURES DURING THE 2022 FISCAL YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO SERVE 1037 GUESTS IN THE 10 MONTHS WE WERE FULLY OPERATIONAL, DESPITE OPERATING AT 50% CAPACITY. OF THOSE GUESTS MORE THAN 35% WERE SUBSIDIZED OUR SUGGESTED NIGHTLY RATE OF 30 PER PERSON, PER NIGHT.
