GRANT TO HSA-UWC KONAWE GAVE A $310,604 GRANT TO HSA KONA, WHICH THEY USED TO RESTORE AND RENOVATE THE CHURCH PROPERTY IN KONA, INCLUDING REPLACING THE ROOF AND PERFORMING DEFERRED MAINTENANCE ON THE PROPERTY GROUNDS.EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMSKOKUA ACADEMY HTTPS://KOKUA.ACADEMY/PREF SUPPORTED THE PRIVATE, INDEPENDENT, 501(C)(3) NON PROFIT SCHOOL KOKUA ACADEMY (GRADE K TO 5TH). THEIR SCHOOL IS HELD ON THE PREF OWNED PROPERTY AT 75-1048 HENRY ST, KAILUA KONA, HAWAII. THE SCHOOL IS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING A POSITIVE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR EACH STUDENT BY ENGAGING THEM IN REAL-WORLD, PROJECT BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCES. THE OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE CENTERED ON PERSONAL GROWTH AND SELF?DISCOVERY. THE SEVEN DAY PROGRAM CONSISTED OF MORNING DEVOTIONAL READINGS, BOATING, HIKING, FISHING AND DISCOVERING THE SITES ON THE BIG ISLAND. A TOTAL OF TEN PARTICIPANTS PLUS SIX VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATED.OCEAN ADVENTURE PROGRAM OCEAN ADVENTURE IS A LOCAL COMMUNITY PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE. YOUTH AGED 14 TO 20 ARE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE A 4 HOUR FISHING TRIP ON THE KONA COAST GUIDED BY AN EXPERIENCED FISHING BOAT CAPTAIN & CREW. THIS PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR KIDS TO GET OUTDOORS AND ALSO LEARN BASIC BOATING SKILLS. PREF SPONSORED FOUR OF THESE TRIPS IN 2023.UKULELE & GUITAR LESSONSTHROUGHOUT 2023 PREF HAS SPONSORED FREE UKULELE OR GUITAR LESSONS AT THE HAWAIIAN QUEEN COFFEE GARDEN FOR THE KONA COMMUNITY. APPROXIMATELY SIXTEEN LESSONS TOOK PLACE IN 2023. REV. CHUCK FRUMIN IS THE TEACHER OF THE LESSONS.COMMUNITY EVENTSBIG ISLAND EXCELLENCE IN PARENTING AWARD PROGRAMTHE EXCELLENCE IN PARENTING AWARD PROGRAM ON JULY 23, 2023 WAS SPONSORED BY PREF. HELD AT THE HAWAIIAN QUEEN COFFEE GARDEN THE PROGRAM PROMOTES AND ENCOURAGES FAMILIES TO INVEST IN OUR YOUNG CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY.
