NATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS - WE FUNDED A NUMBER OF STRATEGIC NATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS AGAIN THIS YEAR, INCLUDING HUMAN ANIMAL SUPPORT SERVICES AND MADDIE'S MILLION PET CHALLENGE PROJECTS. WE APPROVED 27 NEW PARTNERSHIP GRANTS THIS YEAR.
RESEARCH GRANTS - WE FUNDED SEVERAL RESEARCH PROJECTS FOCUSING ON ACCESS TO VETERINARY CARE AND FOSTER CARE, INCLUDING THE ALIGNCARE PROJECT AND THE NATIONAL FOSTER CARE SURVEY. WE APPROVED 13 NEW RESEARCH GRANTS THIS YEAR.
EDUCATION GRANTS - WE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORKERS AND VOLUNTEERS IN OUR INDUSTRY THROUGH OPPORTUNITIES LIKE CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS, SHELTER MEDICINE TRAINING, MADDIE'S UNIVERSITY COURSE DEVELOPMENT, AND IN-PERSON TRAININGS. WE APPROVED 32 EDUCATION GRANTS THIS YEAR.
WE FUNDED $150,000 FOR THE WE FOSTER CHALLENGE, CHALLENGING ORGANIZATIONS TO START OR EXPAND FOSTER CARE PRACTICES. WE PARTNERED WITH 17 NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING MICHELSON FOUND ANIMALS FOUNDATION WHO PROVIDED AN ADDITIONAL $50,000 IN FUNDING AND CUDDLY WHO PROVIDED AN ADDITIONAL $10,000 IN FUNDING. WE AWARDED GRANTS TO 63 ORGANIZATIONS. WE ALSO FUNDED $150,000 FOR THE RETURN TO HOME CHALLENGE, CHALLENGING ORGANIZATIONS TO START OR EXPAND ON THEIR PROGRAMS TO REUNITE LOST PETS WITH THEIR FAMILIES. WE PARTNERED WITH 16 NATIONAL ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING MICHELSON FOUND ANIMALS FOUNDATION (WHO FUNDED AN ADDITIONAL $50,000) AND PETCO LOVE (WHO FUNDED AN ADDITIONAL $100,000). WE AWARDED GRANTS TO 70 ORGANIZATIONS.WE HELD OUR 2023 OPEN ARMS CHALLENGE EARLIER THIS YEAR AND WILL PAY OUT THOSE GRANTS IN THE COMING MONTHS. WE HAVE APPROVED 2 MORE CHALLENGES FOR THE NEXT 2 YEARS ($150,000 EACH).
