THE RIGHT IS OURS - SEPTEMBER 8-OCTOBER 8, 2023. THE RIGHT IS OURS! IS A MUSICAL THAT TELLS THE STORY OF ELIZABETH CADY STANTON AND SUSAN B. ANTHONY, KEY FIGURES IN THE WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT, AND EXAMINES THE IMPACT OF THEIR PARTNERSHIP ON THE FIGHT FOR WOMEN'S VOTING RIGHTS. WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY LLOYD J. SCHWARTZ, WITH MUSIC AND LYRICS BY ADRYAN RUSS, THE PRODUCTION WAS PRESENTED BY SIERRA MADRE PLAYHOUSE. THROUGH HISTORICAL STORYTELLING AND ORIGINAL MUSIC, THE PRODUCTION CONNECTS THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF EARLY SUFFRAGISTS WITH ONGOING ISSUES RELATED TO VOTING RIGHTS, AIMING TO EDUCATE AND ENGAGE AUDIENCES ON THE HISTORICAL AND CONTEMPORARY RELEVANCE OF CIVIC PARTICIPATION AND EQUAL REPRESENTATION.

SOLO SHOWS FESTIVAL - IN JANUARY 2023, SIERRA MADRE PLAYHOUSE LAUNCHED A NEW SEASON OF ITS SOLO SHOWS FESTIVAL UNDER THE PRODUCTION OF INTERIM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR GARY LAMB. BUILDING ON THE SUCCESS OF THE INAUGURAL FESTIVAL, THIS SEASON FEATURED EXPANDED PERFORMANCES OF FOUR SOLO SHOWS, EACH EXPLORING THE LIVES OF ICONIC FIGURES. THE LINEUP INCLUDED BILLIE! BACKSTAGE WITH LADY DAY, PRESENTING THE LIFE OF JAZZ LEGEND BILLIE HOLIDAY; MR. YUNIOSHI, PORTRAYING AN ASIAN AMERICAN ACTOR'S INTERNAL CONFLICT OVER PLAYING A STEREOTYPED ROLE IN BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S; CALL ME ELIZABETH, FOCUSING ON ELIZABETH TAYLOR'S LIFE DURING HER CLEOPATRA HIATUS; AND DI LADY DI, A MUSICAL EXAMINING PRINCESS DIANA'S PERSONAL STRUGGLES.
