FOUNDATION FOR WORLD ARTS IS A LOS ANGELES ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PRESENTING PUBLIC CONCERTS/EVENTS FEATURING INTERNATIONAL AND DIVERSE USA ARTISTS. OUR GOAL IS TO NURTURE CULTURAL EXCHANGE, TOLERANCE, UNDERSTANDING, AND EDUCATION BY REPRESENTING OUR MULTICULTURAL WORLD. OVER THE YEARS, THE FOUNDATION HAS BROUGHT TOGETHER TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OF DIVERSE ETHNIC, RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL BACKGROUNDS BY PRESENTING PERFORMING ARTISTS OF FROM ASIA, AFRICA, EUROPE, PACIFIC ISLANDS AND THE MIDDLE EAST. THE WORLD FESTIVAL OF SACRED MUSIC-LOS ANGELES 1999-2011 LAUNCHED OUR EFFORTS. IN 2011 WE PRODUCED A NATIONAL TOUR OF 36 ISLAND PEOPLES ACROSS THE USA TO PERFORM IN 15 UNIVERSITY AND PUBLIC THEATERS. IN 2014-2017 FWA BEGAN A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH THE JAPANESE AMERICAN CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY CENTER, THE ARATANI WORLD SERIES (AWS) IS A CONCERT SERIES FEATURING WORLD MUSIC AND DANCE. SINCE 2007 TO THE PRESENT FWA HAS TOURED GAMELAN CUDAMANI IN THE USA AND ORGANIZED STUDY PROGRAMS IN BALI.

IN 2019 THE FOUNDATION FOR WORLD ARTS ORGANIZED A CONCERT AND EDUCATIONAL TOUR FOR THE TRADITIONAL BALINESE MUSIC AND DANCE GROUP GAMELAN CUDAMANI, BASED IN PENGOSEKAN, BALI, INDONESIA. THE ENGAGEMENTS INCLUDED: CHICAGO WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL, MORAINE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY (APPLETON, WI), LOTUS FESTIVAL (BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA), HONEYWELL CENTER, OBERLIN COLLEGE (OHIO), CAYUHOGA COMMUNITY COLLEGE (OHIO), BOSTON UNIVERSITY, AND WORLD MUSIC INSTITUTE (NEW YORK. NY). A GROUP OF 24 MUSICIANS AND DANCERS PERFORMED WORKSHOPS, MASTERCLASSES, LECTURE DEMONSTRATIONS, AND EVENING LENGTH PERFORMANCES. FWA PROVIDED ALL ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES FOR THIS TOUR. INTERNATIONALLY HAILED AS ONE OF BALI'S MOST FORWARD THINKING MUSIC AND DANCE ENSEMBLES, CUDAMANI IS KNOWN FOR THEIR EXCEPTIONAL CREATIVITY AND SUPERB ARTISTRY AND ALSO THEIR UNFLAGGING LOVE FOR THE CLASSICAL TREASURES OF BALINESE TRADITION. NURTURED AND TRAINED IN THE VILLAGE OF PENGOSEKAN, THE GROUP IS AMONG BALI'S MOST RESPECTED AND ACCOMPLISHED. ONE OF THEIR MANY SINGULAR FEATURES IS THAT MANY OF THEIR ARTISTS ARE MULTI-DISCIPLINARY, MASTERING GAMELAN, DANCE, VOICE, AND VISUAL ART RESULTING IN ARTISTICALLY UNIFIED PRESENTATIONS.THIS 24 MEMBER ENSEMBLE WEAVES LAYERS OF INTRICATE SOUND: THE PUNCTUATION OF DEEP GREAT BRONZE GONGS; CHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP FROM THE DRUMS; STUNNING INTERLOCKING PERCUSSION FROM THE BRONZE GANGSA; AND FINELY ELABORATED DELICACY OF VOICE AND FLUTE. THE ENSEMBLE TOUCHES THE SOUL WITH A PROGRAM THAT SPANS THE SPECTRUM OF HUMAN EMOTION, FROM SUBLIME TO FEARLESS, FROM REVERENT TO UNAPOLOGETICALLY PLAYFUL. CUDAMANI INTRIGUES THE MIND AND HEART AND A RADIANT FLASH OF THEIR EYES INVITES YOU INTO THE TRANSCENDENT EXPERIENCE OF BALINESE GAMELAN AND DANCE.


TWO WEEK JUNE 23- JULY 9, 2019 CUDAMANI SUMMER INSTITUTE. THIS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, UNIVERSITY FACULTY, K-12 TEACHERS AND OTHER ARTS PROFESSIONALS WHO WANT TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY BALINESE INSTRUMENTS, DANCE, AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THE ARTS AND CULTURE OF BALI. BASED IN BALI, INDONESIA THE FOUNDATION FOR WORLD ARTS PROVIDES MARKETING, PUBLICITY, AND PUBLIC INTERFACE FOR THIS PROGRAM. WE MAINTAIN THE WEB SITE, AND RECEIVE THE TUITION FROM STUDENTS. WE OVERSEE THE COSTS OF THE PROGRAM AND REIMBURSE THE CUDAMANI ORGANIZATION FOR THE DIRECT EXPENSES OF THE PROGRAM, INCLUDING HOUSING, GROUND TRANSPORTATION, MEALS, HOSPITALITY, PROGRAMMING ACTIVITY, FACULTY SALARIES, BALINESE STAFF SALARIES, AND ALL OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS. WE DO NOT TAKE A % OF INCOME AND PROVIDE ALL INCOME TO THE BALINESE GROUP CUDAMANI- ANY FUNDS OVER AND ABOVE DIRECT EXPENSES GO TO THE SALARIES OF THEIR YEAR AROUND MUSIC AND DANCE FACULTY BASED IN BALI.


ADMINISTRATION OF FOUNDATION FOR WORLD ARTS INCLUDED: WEBSITE DESIGN AND MAINTENANCE; MARKETING AND PUBLIC INFORMATION FOR PROGRAMS; TRAVEL TO INDONESIA FOR PROGRAM OVERSIGHT AND ADMINISTRATION, BROCHURE AND PUBLICITY MATERIALS AND OTHER MISC DIRECT COSTS. FWA PROVIDES ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT. DIRECT EXPENSES, NO SALARIES.
