WOMEN AGAINST GUN VIOLENCE (WAGV) IS A LOS ANGELES BASED-NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION LAUNCHED IN 1993. "BY ENGAGING THE PUBLIC AND FAMILIES OF VICTIMS, OUR MISSION IS TO EDUCATE OUR COMMUNITIES ABOUT THE DEVASTATING EFFECTS OF FIREARMS, ADVOCATE FOR SENSIBLE GUN LAWS, AND TO PROMOTE YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS." THE WAGV SPEAKERS BUREAU DELIVERS WAGV'S VIOLENCE PREVENTION WORKSHOPS AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES TO HIGH-RISK YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES IN COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT LA COUNTY. WAGV'S PUBLICATION "HOW TO TALK TO KIDS ABOUT GUNS," IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH ARE FOR PARENTS DISCUSSING GUN VIOLENCE WITH YOUTH. WE DISTRIBUTE THESE BOOKLETS AT THE WORKSHOPS, AND ALSO FOR FREE IN SCHOOLS, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CBOS. OUR ONLINE VICTIMS MEMORIAL ON THE WAGV WEBSITE PROVIDES A PLACE (FREE) WHERE THE LIVES OF THOSE LOST TO GUN VIOLENCE CAN BE CELEBRATED. WE EDUCATE AND INFORM POLICYMAKERS ON SENSIBLE LEGISLATION THAT LIMITS THE ACCESSIBILITY OF GUNS AND AMMUNITION TO YOUTH, CRIMINALS, AND THE MENTALLY ILL.
