ARARA ORGANIZED AND CONDUCTED AN INTERNATIONAL ROCK ART CONFERENCE "IFRAO". THE ORGANIZATION HAS PROMOTED ROCKART RESEARCH BY PUBLISHING NEWSLETTERS. AMONG THEIR PUBLICATIONS ARE AMERICAN INDIAN ROCK ART CONTAINING PAPERS FROM THE ANNUAL CONFERENCES, THE QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER LA PINTURA, AND OCCASIONAL PAPERS OR MONOGRAPHS. ARARA OFFERS SEVERAL AWARDS FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE FIELD OF ROCK ART RESEARCH, CONSERVATION AND EDUCATION. THEIR LIST OF AWARDS INCLUDE: KLAUS WELLMANN MEMORIAL AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE, CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION AWARD FRANK AND A.J. BOCK AWARD FOR EXTRAORDINARY ACHIEVEMENT CASTLETON AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN ROCK ART RESEARCH OLIVER ROCK ART PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD EDUCATION AWARD KEEPERS OF THE GATE AWARD ARARA ALSO INITIATES A MENTORSHIP PROGRAM FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS WHO ARE NEW MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION.
