THE MISSION OF CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF ORANGE COUNTY, INC. (CCOC) IS TO SERVE PEOPLE IN NEED, STRENGTHEN FAMILY AND COMMUNITY, SUPPORT PARISH MINISTRIES AND TO EXTEND GOD'S LOVE TO ALL.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH - SERVED A TOTAL OF 927,040 PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS. DORIS CANTLAY CENTER IS OUR FOOD DISTRIBUTION CENTER. IT PROVIDES IMMEDIATE SUPPORT FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES RECEIVE ASSISTANCE WITH FOOD, EMERGENCY SHELTER AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. PROGRAM'S MAIN PURPOSE IS TO WORK TOWARD SELF-SUFFICIENCY BY IMPROVING THE ECONOMIC CONDITION OF THE FAMILY. CCOC WORKS WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS SUCH AS COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP OF OC AND SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF OC. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDED BY ORDER OF MALTA FOUNDATION AND GENEROUS COMMUNITY DONORS.PARISH MINISTRY PROGRAM SERVICES SERVED 13,986 CLIENTS. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES NECESSITIES TO THOSE CHILDREN WHOSE BASIC NEEDS ARE NOT MET IN THE AREAS OF HOUSING, FOOD, MEDICAL CARE AND MEDICINE. A FAMILY'S POVERTY, ILLNESS AND INSTABILITY CAN JEOPARDIZE THE HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF MANY CHILDLREN IN ORANGE COUNTY. THE AT RISK CHILDREN PROGRAM THAT CREATED IN YEAR 2010, ASSISTS LOW INCOME FAMILIES TO STABILIZED THEIR FAMILY AND PROVIDE A HEALTHIER AND SAFER ENVIRONMENT FOR THEIR CHILDREN. FUNDING FOR THIS PROGRAM WAS INTIAITED IN 2010 AS A RESULT OF A SPECIAL COLLECTION PERMITTED BY BISHOP TOD BROWN AND THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF 62 PARISHES OF THE DIOCESE OF ORANGE, WHICH CELEBRATED THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF CATHOLIC CHARITIES USA. CONTINUED FUNDING FOR THIS PROGRAM IS NOW PROVIDED BY THE PROCEEDS OF THE ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT.
IMMIGRATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT SERVED 22,843 CLIENTS PROVIDING ACCREDITED LEGAL ASSISTANCE IN DOCUMENT PREPARATION FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES SEEKING REUNIFICATION, LEGALIZATION AND ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS. CITIZENSHIP SERVICES DEPARTMENT PROVIDES SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENTS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR NATURALIZATION WITH INFORMATION, EDUCATION AND N-400 APPLICATION ASSISTANCE THROUGH INDIVIDUALIZED CASE MANAGEMENT. THESE SERVICES ARE SUPPORTED BY PROGRAM SERVICE FEES THAT ARE CHARGED TO CLIENTS BASED ON AFFORDABLE RATES.
EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT SERVICES: COLUMBIAN DISABILITY SERVICES - SERVED 1,654 CLIENTS. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES RESIDENTIAL CAMPING PROGRAMS FOR CAMPERS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. IT IS DESIGNED TO BRING GOD'S LOVE TO CAMPERS IN A SPECIAL WAY, OFFERING A DIVERSION FROM THE ORDINARY. THESE CAMPS OFFER SERVICES FOR PARENTS, SIBLINGS, AND CAREGIVERS BY PROVIDING RESPITE CARE SERVICES TO HELP EASE THE STRAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE INTENSIVE TWENTY-FOUR HOUR CARE THAT MUST BE PROVIDED YEAR ROUND. THE PROGRAMS PROVIDE A HIGHLY PROTECTED ENIVIRONMENT FOR THE CAMPERS UTILIZING THE STRENGTH OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS. THIS PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS OF ORANGE COUNTY.
COUNSELING SERVICES DEPARTMENT SERVED 2,561 CLIENTS PROVIDING PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL, GROUP, CONJOINT AND FAMILY COUNSELING TO PEOPLE THAT EXPERIENCE A CRISIS IN THEIR LIVES, CONFLICT IN THEIR INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS, STRESS AT HOME OR WORK, LOSS OF FAMILY OR FRIENDS, OR STRUGGLE WITH LIFE'S CHALLENGES. COUNSELING SERVICES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, COMMUNITY EDUCATION, PARENTING PROGRAMS, SCHOOL COUNSELING, AND PARISH SOCIAL MINISTRY, ETC. THIS PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY PROGRAM SERVICES FEES CHARGED TO CLIENTS BASED ON AFFORDABLE RATES. ADDITIONALLY, COUNSELING NOW HAS THE NEW HOPE CRISIS COUNSELING HOTLINE, A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES CRISIS INTERVENTION AND SUICIDE INTERVENTION TO PEOPLE IN ORANGE COUNTY AND AROUND THE WORLD. TRAINED CRISIS COUNSELORS PROVIDE PEER COUNSELING TO PEOPLE WHO ARE STRUGGLING TO COPE WITH DAY TO DAY LIFE. OUR CRISIS WORKERS ARE VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE ATTENDED INTENSIVE PROGRAM USING AN "ACTIVE LISTENING" MODEL OF PEER COUNSELING.
