THE MISSION OF GIRLS INCORPORATED OF ORANGE COUNTY IS TO INSPIRE ALL GIRLS TO BE STRONG, SMART, AND BOLD. THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE IN-SCHOOL, AFTERSCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS AS WORKSHOPS PROVIDED TO GIRLS FROM KINDERGARTEN TO COLLEGE AND CAREER.

SCHOOL-BASED AND COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS (CONFIDENCE BOOSTHER, INFLUENCEHER, SHEROES, LIL'SHEROES, NO PRESSURE, TRUSTING MY INSTINCTS, COLLEGE BOUND, OCJH): GIOC PARTNERS WITH SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS, AS WELL AS WITH A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS, INCLUDING OC JUVENILE HALL TO SUPPORT GIRL DEVELOPMENT. GIRLS INC. BUILDS UPON THE EXPERTISE AND OPPORTUNITIES OFFERED AT SCHOOLS WITH THE PEOPLE, ENVIRONMENT, AND PROGRAMMING TO ENSURE ALL GIRLS GROW UP HEALTHY, EDUCATED, AND INDEPENDENT. OUR HOLISTIC PROGRAMMING PROMOTES POSITIVE HABITS AND YIELDS STRONG ACADEMIC OUTCOMES. THIS PROGRAMMING IS DELIVERED DURING SCHOOL HOURS AND AFTER SCHOOL HOURS. ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS CONTINUE TO SEE A MAJOR NEED TO ADDRESS THE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES GIRLS ARE FACING, AND THROUGH OUR SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, WE PROVIDED IN-SCHOOL AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMMING TO 55 SCHOOLS AND 5,934 GIRLS IN 2023.
VIRTUAL PROGRAMS (G3, COLLEGE BOUND: GRAD LAB, LITERACY, YOUTUBE): DUE TO THE SUCCESS OF REACHING MORE GIRLS, FROM AREAS/CITIES NOT PREVIOUSLY REACHED, WE CONTINUE TO OFFER SEVERAL OF OUR PROGRAMS VIRTUALLY. THIS PROGRAMMING PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH A FUN, ENGAGING WAY TO CONNECT WITH OTHER STUDENTS IN ORANGE COUNTY AND MAKES OUR PROGRAMS MORE ACCESSIBLE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE UNABLE TO TRAVEL TO OUR IN-PERSON PROGRAM SITES. WE ALSO CONTINUE TO UPLOAD VIDEOS TO YOUTUBE FOR PARTICIPANTS TO LEARN ASYNCHRONOUSLY. IN 2023, WE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE A SELECTION OF VIRTUAL PROGRAMS AND REACHED GIRLS THROUGHOUT ORANGE COUNTY. IN 2023, WE SERVED 1,578 GIRLS THROUGH VIRTUAL PROGRAMS.IN 2023, GIOC SERVED 9,229 GIRLS, AN INCREASE OF 1,270 MORE GIRLS SERVED IN 2022. THIS SUCCESS WAS DUE TO OUR DIVERSE, HOLISTIC PROGRAMMING GROUPS. GIOC PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN PROVEN TO CHANGE GIRLS' LIVES, RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT INCREASES IN SELF-ESTEEM, GRADES, PREPARATION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, COMMUNITY ACTIVISM, INTEREST IN STEM SUBJECTS, AND FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE. GIOC IS COMMITTED TO HELPING GIRLS IN ORANGE COUNTY GROW UP TO BE STRONG, SMART, AND BOLD.GIOC PROVIDES PROGRAMS FOR GIRLS FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH COLLEGE AND THE WORKFORCE WITH INSTRUCTION, MENTORING, AND SUPPORT THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES. EACH YEAR, GIOC IMPACTS THE LIVES OF GIRLS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, LEADING THEM THROUGH HOLISTIC, RESEARCH-BASED, EVIDENCE-INFORMED PROGRAMMING THAT INFUSES SEL (SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING)-CONTENT IN THE AREAS OF STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH), FINANCIAL LITERACY, POSITIVE BODY IMAGE, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, AND COLLEGE/CAREER READINESS. ALL THESE PROGRAMS ARE DEVELOPED TO BE AGE APPROPRIATE FOR GIRLS AND TO MEET THEM WHERE THEY ARE AT IN THEIR PERSONAL LIVES. GIOC PRIORITIZES PROVIDING SERVICES TO GIRLS WHO LIVE IN AREAS WHERE THE NEED IS GREATEST. GIOC PROVIDES PROGRAMS FOR GIRLS IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THE WORKFORCE WITH INSTRUCTION, MENTORING, AND SUPPORT THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES.
SUMMER PROGRAMS (SMART UPS, EUREKA!, BOLDBOTS, PASSPORT TO COLLEGE, HOAG): GIOC'S SUMMER PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED TO STUDENTS ENTERING 1ST-12TH GRADE IN THE AREAS OF STEM, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, LEADERSHIP, LIFE SKILLS, COLLEGE, AND CAREER READINESS AND MORE. THESE CAMPS ARE DESIGNED TO INCREASE PARTICIPANTS' SKILL DEVELOPMENT, RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, AND CONFIDENCE. IN 2023, WE PROVIDED 14 SUMMER PROGRAMS, REACHING 374 GIRLS.
COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS (GIRLS MEET THE WORKFORCE, COLLEGE BOUND, PASSPORT TO COLLEGE, PROJECT ACCELERATE): GIOC PROVIDES INTENSIVE, COMPREHENSIVE COLLEGE AND CAREER PROGRAMMING TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE COLLEGE PROGRAMMING SUPPORTS GIRLS IN ESTABLISHING THEIR PERSONAL AND ACADEMIC GOALS TO BE A COMPETITIVE COLLEGE APPLICANT AND A SUCCESSFUL COLLEGE STUDENT. CAREER READINESS PROGRAMMING HELPS GIRLS IDENTIFY THEIR CAREER INTERESTS AND PREPARES THEM FOR TODAY'S WORKFORCE THROUGH HARD AND SOFT SKILLS BUILDING AND A PLACEMENT AT AN EXTERNSHIP WITHIN AN OC BUSINESS. THIS PROGRAMMING CONTINUES THROUGH GIRLS' COLLEGE EDUCATION IN PROJECT ACCELERATE WHERE PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE MENTORSHIP THROUGHOUT THEIR UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION AND BEYOND. GIOC IS NOW SERVING 82 GIRLS THROUGH PROJECT ACCELERATE AND WILL GROW WITH A 3RD COHORT IN 2024. IN 2023, GIOC'S COLLEGE AND CAREER PROGRAMMING SERVED 559 GIRLS.
