TO ADVOCATE FOR CIVIC BEAUTY, NEIGHBORHOOD CHARACTER, AND ENHANCED QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SAN FRANCISCO

SFB REVIVED ITS NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFICATION GRANTS PROGRAM, WITH SUCCESSFUL FIRST YEAR RESULTS. 16 GRANTS WERE ISSUED FOR DIFFERENT PROJECTS ACROSS SAN FRANCISCO. THESE INCLUDED REPLACING WORN OUT BANNERS LINING CITY STREETS, PLANTING/REVITALIZATION PROJECTS FOR MULTIPLE SCHOOLS AND YOUTH ASSISTANCE CENTERS IN UNDERSERVED AREAS SUCH AS THE BAYVIEW, RESTORATION OF GRAFFITI COVERED STOREFRONTS WITH MURALS IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, CLEAN UPS AT NUMEROUS WELL KNOWN PUBLIC SPACES INCLUDING KITE HILL, AND WORKING WITH THE SAN FRANCISCO WOMEN'S CENTERS TO RESTORE THE AREA OUTSIDE OF THEIR 30 YEAR OLD MAESTRAPEACE MURAL IN THE HISTORIC MISSION DISTRICT. THESE PROJECTS CAN BE FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.SFBEAUTIFUL.ORG. WE ARE CURRENTLY PREPARING FOR THE SECOND YEAR OF THE PROGRAM.


WITH ASSISTANCE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION AND THE NEW COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION, SFB WAS AN ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE THREE-YEAR, $1,210,000 FILLMORE TURK MINI PARK RENOVATION PROJECT, WHICH WAS FINALLY COMPLETED IN 2023. WHAT WAS ONCE A RUN DOWN SPACE WITH TRASH AND AGING STRUCTURES IS NOW A CLEAN NEW SPACE FOR CITIZENS TO ENJOY.


SFB CONTINUES TO SERVE AS THE FISCAL SPONSOR FOR REFUSE REFUSE SF (RRSF). RRSF HAS CONTINUED TO EXPAND ITS INFLUENCE ACROSS SAN FRANCISCO, ORGANIZING 911 CLEAN UPS IN THE PREVIOUS SIXTH MONTH PERIOD ALONE, WITH A TOTAL OF 3,194 CLEAN UPS AND 12,760 UNIQUE VOLUNTEERS SINCE ITS FOUNDING IN APRIL 2021.
