THE REDWOOD REGION LOGGING CONFERENCE PRODUCES THE LARGEST LOGGING EQUIPMENT SHOW IN CALIFORNIA. THE THREE-DAY EVENT HIGHLIGHTS THE LATEST IN LOGGING EQUIPMENT, SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND PRACTICES, AND OFFERS A LOOK INTO LOGGING PRACTICES FROM THE PAST. IT ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS.THE REDWOOD REGION LOGGING CONFERENCE PROVIDES LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OVER 2,000 STUDENTS EACH YEAR. BEGINNING IN FEBRUARY, LOCAL RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS VISIT CLASSROOMS AND BRING THE MESSAGE OF "RENEWABLE RESOURCE" TO THE STUDENTS AND PROVIDE INFORMATION AND EDUCATION ON THE LOCAL FOREST PRODUCTS INDUSTRY.ON EDUCATION DAY, THE LOGGING CONFERENCE HOSTS 1,500 STUDENTS EACH YEAR WHERE LOCAL STUDENTS ARE TAKEN ON GUIDED TOURS WHERE THEY ROTATE THROUGH MULTIPLE WORKSTATIONS AROUND THE LOGGING CONFERENCE GROUNDS LEARNING ABOUT THE INDUSTRY AND ALL IT HAS TO OFFER THE COMMUNITY. THE REDWOOD REGION LOGGING CONFERENCE ALSO HOSTS ADDITIONAL EVENTS SUCH AS "CAREER DAY" FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN THE FIELD AND A "HIGH SCHOOL FORESTRY" COMPETITION WHERE STUDENTS CAN TEST THEIR SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE IN A VARIETY OF VENUES.IN ADDITION TO THE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES OF THE CONFERENCE, THERE IS A SOCIAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE TIMBER INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS. THIS ANNUAL EVENT PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES TO MEET AND CONNECT WITH OTHERS FOR NETWORKING TO STRENGTHEN OUR LOCAL FOREST PRODUCTS COMMUNITY.
