RAIN CITY ROCK CAMP SUMMER CAMP - WEEKLONG MUSIC DAY CAMPS PROVIDE A SAFE AND WELCOMING SPACE FOR CAMPERS TO CREATE, REHEARSE, PERFORM ORIGINAL WORK, AND ATTEND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOPS TOGETHER OVER SIX CONSECUTIVE DAYS. EACH WEEK CULMINATES IN A SHOWCASE WHERE CAMPERS DEBUT THEIR SONGS AT A LOCAL MUSIC VENUE FOR AN AUDIENCE. YOUTH SERVE AS PEER MENTORS FOR DAY CAMP PARTICIPANTS. INTERNS EXPLORE TOPICS RANGING FROM YOUTH CHOICE AND LEADERSHIP TO TECHNICAL SKILLS, INCLUDING INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR. WE REMOVE COST BARRIERS BY OFFERING SLIDING SCALE TUITION AND PROVIDE FREE INSTRUMENT RENTALS FOR PARTICIPANTS.

WE REMOVE COST BARRIERS BY OFFERING SLIDING SCALE TUITION AND PROVIDE FREE INSTRUMENT RENTALS FOR PARTICIPANTS.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMMING - RAIN CITY ROCK SCHOOL, OUR FREE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM, WORKS IN DIRECT PARTNERSHIP WITH SCHOOLS AND INCLUDES ASPECTS OF SUMMER CAMP EXPANDED OVER FIVE WEEKS OF AFTER-SCHOOL SESSIONS. EACH WEEK STUDENTS GATHER ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS TO RECEIVE INSTRUMENT INSTRUCTION, ENGAGE IN FACILITATED DISCUSSIONS AND ACTIVITIES AROUND ANTI-RACISM READINGS, AND PARTICIPATE IN SONG CREATION AND REHEARSALS WITH THEIR BANDMATES AND BAND COACHES. AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM STUDENTS GATHER TO SHARE THEIR FINAL ORIGINAL SONGS. AMPLIFIED TEEN VOICE IS A YEAR-ROUND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM SERVING TEENS WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED IN ONE OF OUR LONGER PROGRAMS. PARTICIPANTS CONNECT WITH YOUTH LEADERS FROM OTHER AREA ORGANIZATIONS, WORK WITH MENTORS TO EXPAND SKILLS, AND PLAY A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN PROGRAMMING DECISIONS. ADVANCED MUSIC PROGRAM IS A WEEK-LONG INTENSIVE WORKSHOP FOR TEENS WITH PRIOR MUSIC EXPERIENCE, INCORPORATING MENTOR-GUIDED SONG WRITING, BAND PARTICIPATION, AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING; RUN IN COLLABORATION WITH THE MUSEUM OF POP CULTURE (MOPOP).
