YAMA UTILIZES A RIGOROUS DAILY MODEL OF ENSEMBLE-BASED MUSIC EDUCATION, WITH A DUAL EMPHASIS ON MUSICAL LITERACY AND ACTIVE COMMUNITY-BUILDING, IN NEIGHBORHOODS WITH GREATEST BARRIERS TO ACCESSING HIGH-QUALITY AFTER-SCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES. WITH 60 PARTICIPATING STUDENTS IN 2021, AGES 8 TO 19, LEARNING DAILY THROUGH AN ONLINE PROGRAM AND MODIFIED IN PERSON PLATFORM, YAMA BUILDS MUSICAL, LEADERSHIP, ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL SKILLS OF AT-PROMISE YOUTH. DURING THE ACADEMIC YEAR, YAMA STRENGTHENED ITS PROGRAMMING TO PROVIDE PATHWAYS TO HIGHER EDUCATION AND TO INCREASE ACCESS TO INFORMATION AND SOCIAL CAPITAL.
