BITCH MEDIA EFFECTS POSITIVE CHANGE IN PORTRAYALS OF WOMEN AND FEMINISM IN THEMEDIA. THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH EDUCATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF CRITICAL THINKING ABOUT MESSAGES PUT FORTH BY COMMERCIAL CULTURE (MOVIES, T.V., MAGAZINES, ADVERTISING, ETC.). THE VEHICLE FOR THIS EDUCATION IS A PUBLICATION ENTITLED "BITCH: FEMINIST RESPONSE TO POP CULTURE," WWW.BITCHMEDIA.ORG, BITCH MEDIAS POPAGANDA AND BACKTALK PODCASTS, THE BITCH ON CAMPUS PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES CURRICULUM AND SPEAKERS FOR COLLEGES ACROSS NORTH AMERICA, AND FINALLY THE BITCH MEDIA FELLOWSHIPS FOR WRITERS, A SERIES OF THREE MONTH INTENSIVE WRITING FELLOWSHIPS WHOSE GOAL IS TO DEVELOP, SUPPORT AND AMPLIFY EMERGING, DIVERSE VOICES IN FEMINIST, ACTIVIST, AND POP CULTURE MEDIA.
