Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
THE WORK OF THE ORGANIZATION IS WELL DESCRIBED AS A SINGLE PROGRAM TO ADVOCATE FOR THE LIVING NAPA RIVER AND TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THE RIVER AND ITS WATERSHED. THIS HAS BEEN THE MISSION OF FRIENDS OF THE NAPA RIVER FOR THE 26 YEARS OF OUR ORGANIZATIONAL EXISTENCE. WE WERE ACTIVE IN THE CITY OF NAPA'S UPDATE OF ITS GENERAL PLAN AND ITS PLAN FOR THE OXBOW DISTRICT, BOTH OF THESE IN OUR FOCUS ON THE NAPA RIVER. DURING THE YEAR, WE CONTINUED TO MONITOR RIVERFRONT ISSUES AND TO COLLABORATE WITH THE NAPA COUNTY RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICT (RCD) TO CONNECT YOUTH AND THE COMMUNITY WITH THE WATERSHED. WE TRACKED RIVER-RELATED PROJECTS AND WROTE COMMENT LETTERS TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT BODIES IN NUMEROUS CASES. STREAM WATCH, A CITIZEN SCIENCE STREAM MONITORING EFFORT, WAS ESTABLISHED UNDER RCD'S LEADERSHIP AND FRIENDS HELPED FUND THAT EFFORT.
