THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE OF THIS CORPORATION IS TO CHANNEL PUBLIC CONCERN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT INTO ACTION IN THE PUBLIC'S INTEREST.

IN 2023, EPIC PROTECTED WILDLIFE AND MATURE FORESTS ON PUBLIC LANDS BY COMMENTING ON ALL OF THE TIMBER SALES THAT WERE PROPOSED IN THE KLAMATH, SHASTA-TRINITY, SIX RIVERS, AND MENDOCINO NATIONAL FORESTS, AND SUING THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE TO CHALLENGE CALIFORNIA'S LARGEST PROPOSED TIMBER SALE IN MODERN HISTORY, THE MORE THAN 417,000-ACRE REGION 5 POST-HAZARD TREE PROJECT. EPIC ALSO CONTINUED WORKING WITH LAWMAKERS, TRIBES, AND FOREST ACTIVISTS TO HALT LOGGING AND ADVOCATE FOR TRIBAL MANAGEMENT OF JACKSON DEMONSTRATION STATE FOREST, PLAYED A LEADING ROLE IN THE POWER IN NATURE COALITION FAR NORTH GROUP TO HELP ACHIEVE CALIFORNIA'S GOAL OF CONSERVING 30% OF LAND AND COASTAL WATERS BY 2030, AND ADVOCATED TO THE STATE WATER BOARD TO ESTABLISH MINIMUM FLOWS, WATER DIVERSION CURTAILMENTS, AND ENFORCEABLE TOTAL MAXIMUM DAILY LOADS FOR POLLUTANTS FOR THE SCOTT AND SHASTA RIVERS.


ADDITIONALLY, EPIC FILED A LAWSUIT AGAINST CALTRANS AFTER ITS FOURTH ATTEMPT TO APPROVE ITS ILL-CONCEIVED ROAD-WIDENING PROJECT THROUGH RICHARDSON GROVE. EPIC ALSO FILED A LAWSUIT AGAINST THE U.S. FISH & WILDLIFE SERVICE FOR VIOLATING THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT BY ISSUING A PERMIT TO SIERRA PACIFIC INDUSTRIES TO "TAKE" FEDERALLY THREATENED NORTHERN SPOTTED OWLS ON THE COMPANY'S PRIVATE LANDS.
