EDUCATION & PRESERVATION OF MARITIME HISTORY AND KNOWLEDGE; ENGAGING OR ASSISTING IN THE MAINTENANCE, ACQUISITION & OPERATION OF MARITIME & MARITIME-RELATED MUSEUMS, EXHIBITS, LIBRARIES & PARKS; SUPPORTING & ASSISTING THE SAN FRANCISCO MARITIME NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK.

THE SAN FRANCISCO MARITIME NATIONAL PARK ASSOCIATION HAD A SUCCESSFUL YEAR IN 2023. WE REVITALIZED OUR LIVING HISTORY GOLD RUSH AND LIFE ON THE BARBARY COAST EDUCATION PROGRAMS, CONTINUED SCOUT OVERNIGHTS ON THE USS PAMPANITO, AND HOSTED LIVESTREAM SEA CHANTEYS AND SEA MUSIC CONCERTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IN THE SPRING, WE HELPED THE PARK RESUME ITS POPULAR IN-PERSON CHANTEY SINGS. WE ALSO HELD OUR FIRST IN-PERSON GALA IN OVER FOUR YEARS AND CONDUCTED THE ANNUAL LOST BOAT CEREMONY AT THE USS PAMPANITO. THEN, IN THE SUMMER, WE LAUNCHED A LABOR HISTORY TALKS SERIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PARK AND WELCOMED THE HOKULEA AND CREW TO THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY. IN THE FALL, WE ORGANIZED A FLEET WEEK VIEWING AT PIER 45, CELEBRATED THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE USS PAMPANITO'S COMMISSIONING, AND THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NEW DEAL AT THE SAN FRANCISCO MARITIME MUSEUM. AT THE END OF THE YEAR, WE RESUMED PUBLICATION OF OUR MUCH-LOVED SEA LETTER MEMBERS MAGAZINE.
