STILES HALL IS A PRIVATE, NON-PROFIT AGENCY DEDICATED TO SERVING THE BROADER COMMUNITY WHILE ENRICHING THE LIVES OF U.C.BERKELEY STUDENTS. THE AGENCY MISSION IS TO HELP LOW INCOME, INNER CITY YOUTH TO STAY IN SCHOOL; TO ENGAGE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA STUDENTS IN MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY SERVICE; TO PROMOTE LASTING INTERRACIAL UNDERSTANDING, ESPECIALLY AMONG FUTURE COMMUNITY LEADERS; AND TO REMAIN A CENTER FOR REAL COMMUNITY, HOPE AND DEMOCRATIC VALUES.

PARTNERSHIPS IN EDUCATION PROGRAMS: EXPERIENCE BERKELEY UTILIZES ONE TO THREE-DAY CAMPUS EXPERIENCES TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF BLACK, LATINO AND NATIVE AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS APPLYING TO AND ATTENDING U.C. BERKELEY (150 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND 150 COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS.) (300 CLIENTS/STUDENTS)
YOUTH COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS: COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS--STILES HALL PLACES 400 MENTORS AND ELDERLY COMPANIONS ANNUALLY. BUILDING ON OVER 70 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, 25 EXTREMELY DIVERSE, MOSTLY LOW-INCOME STUDENT EMPLOYEES RECRUIT, TRAIN AND SUPERVISE THESE U.C. BERKELEY STUDENTS WHO VOLUNTEER 75 TO 100 HOURS EACH. (200 COLLEGE STUDENTS AND 200 VOLUNTEERS)
GUIDANCE & COUNSELING PROGRAMS: BERKELEY SCHOLARS TO CAL-NINE YEAR COMPREHENSIVE ACADEMIC, SOCIAL AND PARENT SUPPORT PROJECT WHOSE GOAL IS TO ENABLE 70 EDUCATIONALLY DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS TO ENTER A TOP-TIER UNIVERSITY. SUMMER AND SATURDAY ACADEMICS, ONE-TO-ONE MENTORS, AND REGULAR HOME VISITS HAVE PUT 80% OF THE STUDENTS ON A SOLID COLLEGE PREPARATORY TRACK. (70 YOUTH).
