RETURN TO LIVE PERFORMANCE & DIGITAL PROGRAMMING/LIVESTREAMED CONCERTS: FOR THE 2021/22 SEASON PBO PRESENTED A HYBRID SEASON OF BOTH IN-PERSON AND ONLINE STREAMED CONCERTS OF BAROQUE AND EARLY CLASSICAL MUSIC PERFORMED BY PROFESSIONAL PAID MUSICIANS. TO REMAIN CONNECTED TO OUR CONSTITUENTS AND SERVE A BROAD COMMUNITY STILL IN ISOLATION DUE TO COVID-19, PBO RELEASED ONE FILMED PRODUCTION AND FOUR IN-PERSON CONCERTS WITH ACCOMPANYING FREE LIVESTREAMS ON YOUTUBE. REVENUE REPORTED IS FROM TICKET SALES. EXPENSES ARE RELATED TO CONCERT PRODUCTION INCLUDING GUEST DIRECTORS, MUSICIAN FEES, TRANSPORTATION, FACILITY RENTALS, FILM CREW AND FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF. THE 21/22 SEASON WAS CURATED BY FOUR ARTISTIC ADVISORS FOLLOWING THE RETIREMENT OF TRAILBLAZING PBO ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, VIOLINIST MONICA HUGGETT. THE ARTISTIC ADVISORS WERE BYRON SCHENKMAN, AISSLINN NOSKY, GARY THOR WEDOW, AND JONATHAN WOODY. THEY REPRESENT A 40-YEAR AGE SPAN; THREE GENDERS; AND THREE ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS. THE FILMED PRODUCTION BACH, BAYREUTH, AND BUH-ROKE WAS LED BY BYRON SCHENKMAN AND INCLUDED PBO'S FIRST-EVER CONTEMPORARY COMMISSION WRITTEN BY PORTLAND COMPOSER DAMIEN GETER. IN-PERSON CONCERTS WERE PRESENTED FOR TWO PERFORMANCES EACH AND WERE: CONCERTI GROSSI; MENDELSSOHN'S LIBRARY; BYRON, BON, AND BRANDENBURG 5; AND VOICES OUT OF THE DARKNESS: BACH CANTATAS. TO REMAIN FLEXIBLE IN A CHANGING PUBLIC HEALTH ENVIRONMENT PBO SOLD SINGLE TICKETS RATHER THAN OUR USUAL SUBSCRIPTION MODEL, RESULTING IN 1,347 IN-PERSON TICKETS SOLD; ONLY 29% OF OUR PROJECTIONS AND RESULTING IN 85% LESS IN TICKET REVENUE THAN PRE-PANDEMIC SEASONS. HOWEVER, ONLINE VIEWERSHIP DURING THE SEASON OF OUR TWO YOUTUBE CHANNELS WAS 71,954 TO A WORLDWIDE AUDIENCE.OUR LIVESTREAMS ARE FREE AND ACCESSIBLE, BROADENING OUR REACH, AMPLIFYING THE ROLE OF DIVERSE ARTISTS, AND FEATURING OUR PASSION FOR PERIOD PERFORMANCE AND MASTERY OF CRAFT. OUR YOUTUBE VIDEOS REACH A YOUNGER DEMOGRAPHIC. WE ADVANCED REPRESENTATION ON SCREEN AND 22% OF THE ARTISTS EMPLOYED IN 21/22 WERE PEOPLE OF COLOR.
