THE ARCHITECTURE FOUNDATION OF OREGON SUPPORTS OREGON'S QUALITY OF LIFE AND CREATES AWARENESS OF OUR DESIGNED ENVIRONMENTS THROUGH EDUCATION, ENGAGEMENT AND INSPIRATION.

ARCHITECTS IN SCHOOL: OVER 100 DESIGN PROFESSIONALS PARTNER WITH TEACHERS IN OVER 170 OREGON CLASSROOMS TO PROVIDE SIX WEEK RESIDENCIES FOR 5,400 THIRD THROUGH FIFTH GRADERS. ARCHITECT/TEACHER TEAMS DEVELOP CUSTOMIZED CURRICULUM FROM AFO'S GUIDE CONNECTING THE STUDY OF ARCHITECTURE WITH LEARNING GOALS IN MATH, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, ART, AND OTHER SUBJECT AREAS. EXHIBITS OF THE STUDENTS WORK WERE ORGANIZED IN THE FIVE METRO AREAS SERVED. RELATIONSHIPS WITH DESIGN PROFESSIONALS AND TEACHERS WERE EXPANDED IN SERVICE AREAS ACROSS THE STATE.
HATFIELD ARCHITECTURAL AWARD: ONE $4,000 SCHOLARSHIP WAS AWARDED TO A STUDENT WHO WAS ENROLLED INTHE ARCHITECTURAL STUDIES PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF OREGON.
VAN EVERA BAILEY FELLOWSHIP: ONE $25,000 FELLOWSHIP WAS AWARDED TO ONE MID CAREER DESIGN PROFESSIONAL. ONE FELLOW USED THE FUNDS TO DEVELOP AN ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THE OTHER FELLOW USED THE FUNDS TO PHOTOGRAPH AND DOCUMENT RARE BUILDINGS ACROSS THE STATE.
