THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTS RESEARCH TO UNDERSTAND SOCIAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PROCESSES RELATED TO HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY FUNCTIONING. THAT UNDERSTANDING IS APPLIED TO THE DESIGN AND EVALUATION OF INTERVENTIONS THAT STRENGTHEN CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES.

WORK SUPPORTED BY THE US DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AND THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. OSLC CONDUCTS SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH TO UNDERSTAND FAMILY, PEER, SCHOOL, COMMUNITY AND INDIVIDUAL PROCESSES THAT INFLUENCE THE LONG-TERM BEHAVIORAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND ADULTS. THE ORGANIZATION HAS AN INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION FOR THE THEORY, DESIGN, IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF INTERVENTIONS THAT IMPROVE THE WELL-BEING OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. THE TRANSLATION OF THEORY TO EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES INCLUDE INNOVATIVE METHODS, LONGITUDINAL STUDIES OF THE GENERAL POPULATION, AT-RISK CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, AND RIGOROUS EVALUATION OF OUR PROGRAMS. EXAMPLES OF SOME OF OUR EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAMS INCLUDE THOSE WITH CHILDREN IN HIGH-RISK SCHOOLS, CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE, THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM, DIVORCED FAMILIES, AND INCARCERATED PARENTS. RESEARCH FINDINGS ARE PUBLISHED AND DISSEMINATED TO BENEFIT PROFESSIONALS IN PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIAL WORK AND EDUCATION.
WORK SUPPORTED BY SUBCONTRACTS. AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF OUR RESEARCH IS A COLLABORATION WITH OTHERS IN THE FIELD OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT, PREVENTION RESEARCH AND THE APPLICATION OF RESEARCH TO PRACTICE. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED SUBCONTRACTS FROM UNIVERSITIES AND RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS TO CARRY OUR SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF MUTUAL BENEFIT TO THE RESPECTIVE RESEARCH PROGRAMS. SUCH COLLABORATIONS ALSO PROMOTE PUBLICATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS OF RESEARCH FINDINGS.
