WE CONNECT NEIGHBORS, BUILDS COMMUNITY AND IMPROVES LIVES FOR RECENT IMMIGRANTS, LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, AND OTHER UNDERSERVED PEOPLE OF ALL AGES. OUR COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION AND SOCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAMS PROMOTE SCHOOL READINESS AND SUCCESS FOR CHILDREN, EMPOWER FAMILIES TO MOVE BEYOND POVERTY, AND SUPPORT SENIORS TO REMAIN LIVING INDEPENDENTLY.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS: ENSURING THAT ALL YOUNG CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, ARE PREPARED FOR A SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION TO KINDERGARTEN BY PROMOTING HEALTHY CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND EARLY LEARNING FROM BIRTH THROUGH AGE 6. PROGRAMS INCLUDE HEAD START, EARLY HEAD START, AND PRESCHOOL PROMISE. EARLY CHILDHOOD HIGHLIGHTS:- HEAD START PROVIDED FOOD AND BASIC SUPPLIES TO THE COMMUNITY AT THE HEIGHT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.- THE PROGRAM EXPANDED SERVICES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF 52 MORE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.- HEAD START OPENED A NEW SCHOOL IN NW PORTLAND AT AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING SITE.
ANTI-POVERTY FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES: OPERATING SOUTHWEST PORTLAND'S LARGEST FOOD PANTRY AND PROVIDING HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES. ANTI-POVERTY FAMILY SUPPORT HIGHLIGHTS:- 32 HOUSELESS FAMILIES FOUND SHELTER AND SUPPORT THROUGH OUR HOUSING PROGRAM.- THE FOOD PANTRY DISTRIBUTED 748,859 POUNDS OF NUTRITIOUS FOOD TO 9,624 INDIVIDUALS. - AN AVERAGE OF 2,000 PEOPLE RECEIVED FOOD ASSISTANCE EACH MONTH.
PARENTING PROGRAMS: PROVIDING PARENTING EDUCATION AND STRONG COMMUNITY TO PARENTS FROM A WIDE ARRAY OF BACKGROUNDS. PARENTING HIGHLIGHTS:- NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE LAUNCHED THE MULTNOMAH PARENTING EDUCATION HUB (MPEH), A PARENT-LED INITIATIVE WHICH SERVES PARENTS ACROSS MULTNOMAH COUNTY THROUGH TRAINING, COMMUNITY BUILDING, AND OTHER RESOURCES AND SUPPORT. - STAFF TRAINED PARENT EDUCATORS FROM THE AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND SLAVIC COMMUNITIES AND DELIVERED FIDELITY-BASED PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES IN SOMALI, SWAHILI AND RUSSIAN. - THE PROGRAM PARTNERED WITH A NUMBER OF ORGANIZATIONS IN MULTNOMAH COUNTY TO DEEPEN OUR SERVICE DELIVERY.
