OVER 800 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN THE ANNUAL ROTARY HEALTH FAIR WHICH PROVIDED LOW-COST DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY TESTS. APPROXIMATELY 150 FLU SHOTS WERE ADMINISTERED FOR FREE. COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS WERE COMPLETED WHICH PROVIDED FUNDING FOR A LITERACY PROGRAM, COMMUNITY CLEANUP, SHARE THE SPIRIT AND THANKSGIVING FOOD PROGRAMS, HOSPICE OF HOMER, HOMER HOCKEY, A MEMORIAL GARDEN PROJECT, AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION (HAVEN HOUSE). OUR ROTARY CLUB SUPPORTS THE LOCAL FOOD PANTRY WHERE ONE OF OUR MEMBERS IS THE COORDINATOR. WE ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR SEVERAL MEMORIAL BENCHES AROUND THE COMMUNITY. OUR CLUB ALSO SUPPORTED SEVERAL INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECTS. THE VOCATIONAL SERVICE COMMITTEE PROVIDED SCHOLARSHIPS FOR LOCAL STUDENTS IN COLLEGE AND TRADE PROGRAMS. INTERNATIONAL SERVICE PROJECTS PROVIDED INCREASED UNDERSTANDING AND GOODWILL THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. WE HELPED FUND THE POLIO PLUS PROGRAM, AS WELL AS KIVA FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, AND ECOGENESIS IN THE PHILIPPINES. ADDITIONALLY, WE PROVIDED SUPPORT TO THE LAMISSION ROTARY CLUB IN MEXICO AND A LITERACY PROGRAM IN GUATEMALA. THE VOCATIONAL SERVICE COMMITTEE PROVIDED COLLEGE AND TRADE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR A TOTAL OF $5,000.
