TO PROVIDE CONGREGATE AND HOME DELIVERED NUTRITIONAL SERVICES, RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, ADVOCACY SERVICES AND AFFORDABLE SENIOR HOUSING TO SENIOR CITIZENS IN THE WASILLA, ALASKA AREA.

HOUSING MANAGEMENT - WASI OWNS FIVE HOUSING COMPLEXES AT OUR CAMPUS IN WASILLA: ALDERVIEW, EAGLES NEST, KNIK MANOR, RAVEN TREE COURT AND SUSITNA PLACE. WASI ALSO OWNS BLUEBERRY POINTE IN HOUSTON ALASKA. THESE SIX BUILDINGS COLLECTIVELY HOUSE 136 UNITS FOR INDIVIDUALS 62 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER. EACH OF THE SIX BUILDINGS HAS A COMMON AREA FOR GAMES, PUZZLES, READING, OR TV. SURROUNDING THE HOUSING COMPLEXES AT THE WASILLA CAMPUS ARE LARGE GRASSY AREAS AND A PICNIC PAVILION COMPLETE WITH A GAS GRILL AND GAZEBO-COVERED SEATING.
THE NUTRITION PROGRAM - IS DESIGNED TO REDUCE HUNGER AND FOOD INSECURITY, PROMOTE SOCIALIZATION OF OLDER INDIVIDUALS, PROMOTE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF OLDER INDIVIDUALS AND DELAY ADVERSE HEALTH CONDITIONS THROUGH ACCESS TO NUTRITION AND OTHER DISEASE PREVENTION AND HEALTH PROMOTION SERVICES. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES: CONGREGATE MEALS: PROVIDED IN A CONGREGATE SETTING AT THE WASILLA AREA SENIOR AND MID-VALLEY SENIOR CENTERS TO INDIVIDUALS AGED 60 YEARS AND OLDER. HOME-DELIVERED MEALS: PROVIDED TO HOMEBOUND INDIVIDUALS AGED 60 YEARS AND OVER AND THEIR SPOUSE. TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE WASI CENTER FOR CONGREGATE MEALS.
SENIOR IN-HOME SERVICES: DESIGNED TO ASSIST SENIORS IN THEIR HOMES, ALLOWING THEM TO REMAIN AS INDEPENDENT AS POSSIBLE FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. CHORE SERVICES: WASI SENIOR CARE WORKERS HELP WITH HOUSEWORK, MEAL PREPARATION, SIDEWALK MAINTENANCE AND OTHER ACTIVITIES SENIORS MAY FIND DIFFICULT TO DO ON THEIR OWN. RESPITE CARE: PROVIDES SUBSTITUTE IN-HOME CARE FOR ADULTS WITH DECLINING PHYSICAL OR COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS SO FULLTIME CAREGIVERS CAN TAKE TIME FOR THEMSELVES. SUPPLEMENTAL SERVICES: HELPS LOW-INCOME SENIORS MAINTAIN A SAFE AND HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT TO AVOID A CRISIS THAT WOULD JEOPARDIZE THEIR ABILITY TO REMAIN INDEPENDENTLY IN THEIR OWN HOME.
