WACD IS A VOLUNTARY, NON-GOVERNMENTAL ASSOCIATION TO SERVE AS THE COLLECTIVE VOICE OF CONSERVATION DISTRICTS, AND TO ADVANCE THE PURPOSES OF CONSERVATION DISTRICTS AND THEIR CONSTITUENTS, BY PROVIDING LEADERSHIP, ADVOCACY, REPRESENTATION, INFLUENCE, INFORMATION, AND PRODUCTS & SERVICES, AND BY PROTECTING AND ADVANCING THE LOCALLY-LED PRINCIPLE. WACD OPERATES A NATIVE PLANT NURSERY CALLED THE PLANT MATERIALS CENTER, ESTABLIHED IN 1993. THE GOAL OF THE PLANT MATERIALS CENTER IS TO PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY TREES AND SHRUBS FOR THE BENEFIT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND SERVICES THAT THE RESTORATION COMMUNITY NEEDS.

THE ORGANIZATION SUPPLIES PLANT MATERIALS TO WASHINGTON STATE CONSERVATION DISTRICTS FOR PLANTING ALONG STREAMSIDE BANKS IN DESIGNATED WATERSHED AREAS.
