INGERSOLL GENDER CENTER IS BY, AND FOR TRANSGENDER AND GENDER NONCONFORMIING PEOPLE THAT PROVIDES MUTUAL SUPPORT THROUGH PEER-LED GROUPS, ADVOCACY IN NAVIGATING RESOURCES, COMMUNITY ORGANIZING AND EDUCATION

COMMUNITY SUPPORT ENGAGEMENT - WE PROVIDE A WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUP, MAINTAIN A STATEWIDE RESOURCE AND REFERRAL HOTLINE, AND DO COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EGAGEMENT TO ENSURE COMMUNITIES KNOW ABOUT OUR SERVICES. WE ALSO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS. IN 2020, WE PROVIDED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AFFECTED BY COVID-19. WE ALSO PROVIDED FOOD DELIVERY, COMMUNITY INFORMATION CALLS, VIRTUAL EVENTS, AND COVID-19 RESOURCE BOARDS.
ECONOMIC JUSTICE - WE PROVIDE DIRECT SERVICES TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO FIND STABLE EMPLOYMENT, HOUSING, AND OTHER VITAL RESOURCES THAT AID IN THEIR OVERALL STABILITY.
PEER SUPPORT GROUP - OUR TRANS LED PEER SUPPORT GROUP HAS BEEN MEETING EVERY WEEK NO MATTER THE WEATHER OR HOLIDAYS FOR OVER 40 YEARS. OUR PEER SUPPORT GROUPS PROVIDE A GREAT PLACE FOR TRANS FOLKS, GENDER NONCONFORMING AND QUESTIONING FOLKS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, AND COMMUNITY ALLIES TO COME TOGETHER FOR INFORMATION AND MUTUAL SUPPORT. GROUPS ARE FACILITATED BY TRAINED PEER-FACILITATORS FROM OUR OWN COMMUNITIES. DISCUSSIONS ARE FREE RANGING, CONFIDENTIAL AND FOCUSED ON THE INTERESTS AND CONCERNS OF THE PEOPLE WHO ATTEND THE GROUPS.
