FOR 123 YEARS, WFIA HAS SUPPORTED AND PROTECTED THE INDEPENDENT GROCERS AND SUPPLIERS OF WASHINGTON STATE. THIS YEAR WE CONTINUED TO CREATE NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR MEMEBERS TO CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER AND THEIR LEGISLATORS. IT IS OUR HOPE THAT THIS LEGACY CONTINUES AS WE GROW AS AN ASSOCIATION AND FIND CREATIVE WAYS TO BETTER SERVE OUR MEMBERS IN THIS COMING YEAR.THE WASHINGTON FOOD INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION REPRESENTS 553 FOOD AND BEVERAGE RETAIL, WHOLESALE, MANUFACTURERS AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERS WHO WORK TOGETHER THROUGH LEGISLATIVE ACTION TO ASSURE THAT EVERY LEVEL OF THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE INDUSTRY IS ABLE TO OPERATE AT A PROFIT WITHOUT UNDUE GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE. IN ADDITION, WE FOSTER RELATIONSHIP BUILDING BETWEEN RETAILERS AND SUPPLIERS TO BRING NEW AND EXCITING PRODUCTS TO MARKET. WFIA CREATED AFFILIATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH WASHINGTON NEIGHBORHOOD STORES, WASHINGTON WINERY INSTITUTE, AND WASHINGTON BREWERS GUILD TO ALLOW THEIR MEMEBERS TO BECOME MEMBERS OF OURS AND UTILIZE OUR ENHANCED SERVICES. FINALLY, WE FOCUS ON SAVING YOU MONEY THROUGH REDUCING YOUR COST OF DOING BUSINESS IN WORKERS' COMP AND EDUCATION IN COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL AND STATE LAWS; OUR WORKERS' COMPENSATION RETROSPECTIVE PROGRAM RETURNED 5.8 MILLION DOLLARS TO PARTICIPATING MEMBERS.
