Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
SINCE 1979, THE HOUSING RIGHTS COMMITTEE OF SAN FRANCISCO (HRCSF) HAS BEEN DEDICATED TO COMBATING THE DISPLACEMENT CRISIS GRIPPING OUR CITY BY BUILDING THE POWER OF WORKING-CLASS TENANTS OF COLOR TO TAKE ON THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY AND WIN HOUSING JUST FOR ALL. THROUGH ORGANIZING AND PEER-COUNSELING PROGRAMS, WE EMPOWER BOTH PRIVATE-MARKET AND SUBSIDIZED HOUSING TENANTS TO CONNECT WITH THEIR NEIGHBORS AND TRANSFORM THEIR COMMUNITIES WHILE TRANSFORMING THEMSELVES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
WE SERVE 8,000 TENANTS ANNUALLY IN FIVE LANGUAGES ACROSS THREE COUNSELING CLINICS. OUR SERVICES PROVIDE SELF-HELP INFORMATION AND COUNSELING ON VARIOUS TENANT ISSUES SUCH AS RENTS, EVICTIONS, HABITABILITY, AND HARASSMENT.
OUR THREE TENANT ASSOCIATIONS CONNECT 400 BUILDINGS ACROSS SAN FRANCISCO IN SIX DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, ORGANIZE A GROWING BASE OF OVER A THOUSAND MEMBERS, FACILITATE ASSOCIATION MEETINGS, AND TRAIN TENANTS TO FIGHT EVICTIONS AND WIN LOWER RENTS.
THE SAN FRANCISCO ANTI DISPLACEMENT COALITION (SFADC) PROGRAM IS A GROUP OF TENANT ORGANIZATIONS AND ALLIES WHO ORGANIZE AGAINST THE SOARING EVICTIONS AND RENT INCREASES IN OUR CITY, WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN THE DISPLACEMENT OF THOUSANDS OF SAN FRANCISCANS. SFADC ORGANIZES EVENTS, CAMPAIGNS, AND OPERATES A PEER-TO-PEER COUNSELING NETWORK ACROSS THE CITY AT-LARGE.
