Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3

WE ARE FIGHTING TO STOP THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES FROM BUILDING A MASSIVE MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT ON A HEAVILY UTILIZED PUBLIC PARKING LOT WHICH PROVIDES SUBSTANTIAL VISITOR-SERVING PARKING FOR VENICE BEACH AND IS LOCATED IN AN ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE FEMA DESIGNATED FLOOD ZONE SUBJECT TO SEA LEVEL RISE ALONG A TSUNAMI ESCAPE ROUTE ADJACENT TO FEDERALLY-PROTECTED CANALS. THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT IGNORES THE PRINCIPLES OF SAFE COASTAL DEVELOPMENT AND WOULD SEVERELY REDUCE EXISTING AND LIMIT ANY FUTURE INCREASES TO PUBLIC ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE BEACH PARKING. WE REPRESENT THE COMMUNITY INTERESTS BY SUBMITTING LETTERS AND ATTENDING PUBLIC HEARINGS AND ENCOURAGING THE COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE TO OPPOSE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT. WE REPRESENT COMMUNITY INTERESTS BY FILING PUBLIC INTEREST APPEALS AND LAWSUITS WHEN DEEMED NECESSARY BECAUSE OF CITY AND COASTAL PERMITS THAT DO NOT LAWFULLY PROTECT THE COASTAL ZONE. WE HAVE A WEBSITE AND ISSUE PERIODIC EMAILS TO EDUCATE AND INFORM THE PUBLIC.
