COMMUNITY SAFETY: IS A PROGRAM WHERE UNIFORMED STREET AMBASSADORS PATROL THE DOWNTOWN AREA IN PAIRS. THEY HELP TO MITIGATE HOMELESS ISSUES, ASSIST TOURISTS AND PERFORM OTHER DUTIES THAT HELP KEEP THE DOWNTOWN AND OTHER DESIGNATED AREAS SAFE, CLEAN AND VIABLE FOR BUSINESS AND RESIDENTS AS WELL AS A ROBUST WORK ENVIRONMENT AND ENTERTAINMENT CENTER FOR THE PUBLIC IN GENERAL.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: INCLUDES THE DISTRIBUTION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MATERIALS, PROFILES AND BENCHMARK STUDIES. IT ALSO PROVIDES CONSTRUCTION MITIGATION, COORDINATING BUILDING DEVELOPMENT AND TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS WITH LOCAL BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITIES TO HELP LESSEN THE IMPACT OF ALTERED TRAFIIC PATTERNS, TIMING OF CLOSURES AND ANY OTHER EFFECTS OF A GROWING DOWNTOWN. OTHER EFFORTS INCLUDE PROMOTIONAL BROCHURES, ATTENDANCE OF CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS, AND VARIOUS MARKETING CAMPAIGNS.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS: IS A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES EVENTS AND PROMOTIONS THAT HIGHLIGHT DOWNTOWN CULTURE AND LIFESTYLE. THESE INCLUDE EVENTS SUCH AS "OPEN STREETS" AN EVENT OCCURING ON MULTIPLE WEEKENDS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, CLOSING MAIN STREET TO AUTOMOBILE TRAFFIC AND ENCOURAGING AN OPEN WALKING MALL WITH MUSICIANS, ARTISTS AND STREET PERFORMERS. ENABLING AND ENCOURAGING LOCAL RETAILERS AND RESTAURANTS TO HAVE A STREET PRESENCE PROVIDING DINING, SIDEWALK SALES AND THE LIKE. COMMUNITY RELATIONS ALSO PROMOTES AND SUPPORTS ALL OTHER ARTS AND CULTURAL EVENTS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA, SUCH AS ARTS FESTIVALS AND CONCERTS, AS WELL AS MARKETING CAMPAIGNS TARGETING CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY EVENTS.
