THE MISSION OF THE AGRICULTURAL INSTITUTE OF MARIN IS TO EDUCATE, INSPIRE, AND CONNECT COMMUNITIES, RESPONSIBLE FARMERS, AND PRODUCERS AS PART OF A HEALTHY, EARTH-FRIENDLY, EQUITABLE LOCAL AND REGIONAL FOOD SYSTEM. AIM SERVES 430+ FARMERS, FOOD PURVEYORS, AND ARTISANS FROM 44 CAL

FARMERS MARKETS EDUCATIONAL VENUES AIMS CERTIFIED FARMERS MARKETS (CFMS) PROVIDE CRITICAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS WHERE AIM, FARMERS, AND FOOD MAKERS ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY AND EDUCATE ABOUT THE HEALTH, SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF EATING LOCALLY AND SUSTAINABLY PRODUCED FOOD. IN 2023, AIM MANAGED 392 FARMERS MARKET EVENTS TO OFFER LOCAL FOODS AND COMMUNITY BUILDING ACROSS THREE BAY AREA COUNTIES. WE MAINTAIN INTEGRITY BY VERIFYING THAT ALL FARMERS ARE SELLING ONLY PRODUCTS THAT THEY GROW. WE ALSO IMPLEMENTED A LIVESTOCK MARKETING INTEGRITY PROGRAM FOR RANCHERS SELLING MEAT PRODUCTS IN OUR FARMERS MARKETS. AIMS INTERNAL RESEARCH INDICATES THAT OVER 40K SHOPPERS AND EATERS A WEEK DEPEND ON AIM MARKETS, OR AN ESTIMATED 2 MILLION ANNUAL VISITORS


ROLLIN ROOT MOBILE MARKET IN 2023, AIM STRENGTHENED ITS STAR FOOD ACCESS PROGRAM, THE ROLLIN ROOT, A MOBILE MARKET THAT INCREASES ACCESS TO FARM-FRESH FOOD AND NUTRITION EDUCATION FOR OLDER ADULTS AND OTHER UNDERSERVED GROUPS REGARDLESS OF TRANSPORTATION OR ECONOMIC BARRIERS IN MARIN AND SAN FRANCISCO COUNTIES. IN TOTAL, WE SERVED APPROXIMATELY 7,359 PARTICIPANTS, AND AN AVERAGE OF 150 PEOPLE PER WEEK. ADDITIONALLY, WE RECRUITED AND TRAINED 15 COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS TO JOIN EACH ROLLIN ROOT STOP TO ANSWER QUESTIONS, SHARE RECIPES AND PROVIDE COOKING TIPS TO SHOPPERS. OUR NUTRITION EDUCATORS LED 52 NUTRITION EDUCATION LESSONS AND RECIPES TO TEACH OVER 2,400 PARTICIPANTS ABOUT SEASONALITY AND EATING HEALTHY ON A BUDGET.


COMMUNITY FOOD ACCESS AT AIMS FARMERS MARKETS, WE ACCEPT EBT/FOOD STAMPS, AND OFFER A MARKET MATCH, AN INCENTIVE PROGRAM WHICH OFFERS SHOPPERS DOUBLE VALUE WHEN THEY USE EBT/FOOD STAMPS FOR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES UP TO $15 PER DAY. IN 2023, WE PROCESSED 44K EBT TRANSACTIONS AMONG SHOPPERS OF LOW-INCOME AT OUR FARMERS MARKETS FOR THE PURCHASE OF FREE LOCAL FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. 89% OF OUR PARTICIPANTS ATTEND THE MARKET ON A WEEKLY BASIS.WE OPERATED THE BOUNTY BOX, A MULTI-FARM PRODUCE PROGRAM STARTED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC SUPPORTING NUTRITION ACCESS FOR COMMUNITIES ACROSS MARIN AND SAN FRANCISCO. IN 2023, WE CURATED, PACKED, AND DONATED 4,029 FREE BOUNTY BOXES TO SAN FRANCISCO AND SAN RAFAEL COMMUNITIES EXPERIENCING FOOD AND NUTRITION INSECURITY
