NEIGHBORS WHO CARE INSPIRES A ROBUST NETWORK OF VOLUNTEERS WHO RESPOND TO EVER CHANGING NEEDS OF OUR AGING COMMUNITY, HELPING THEM LIVE AT HOME WITH PRIDE, DIGNITY, AND INDEPENDENCE.

NWC RECRUITS AND TRAINS VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE NON-MEDICAL ASSISTIVE SERVICES TO HOMEBOUND AND DISABLED SENIORS THAT ALLOW THEM TO CONTINUE LIVING INDEPENDENTLY IN THEIR OWN HOMES. NWC SERVES A POPULATION OF HOMEBOUND AND/OR FRAIL ELDERLY WHO MEET THE DEFINITION OF DISABLED UNDER CURRENT FEDERAL LAW. OUR 600+ VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE SERVICES SUCH AS TRANSPORTATION TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, SHOPPING, MEAL DELIVERY, HOME REPAIRS, BUSINESS ASSISTANCE, REASSURANCE PHONE CALLS, FRIENDLY VISITS, CAREGIVER RESPITE, AND CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUPS. NWC ALSO PROVIDES FOLLOW-UP FOR VULNERABLE SENIORS UPON DISCHARGE FROM MEDICAL FACILITIES. IN 2021 WE ASSISTED 700 INDIVIDUALS ON MORE THAN 20,000 OCCASIONS, ALLOWING THEM TO REMAIN AT HOME FOR AN AVERAGE OF 5 ADDITIONAL YEARS.IN FY 2020-2021, NEIGHBORS WHO CARE SUCCESSFULLY STAGED ITS FIRST COMPLIMENTARY COMMUNITY AGING CONFERENCE. ATTRACTING 120 REGISTERED GUESTS FROM THE EAST VALLEY, AGING MADE EASIER SUPPLIED VETTED, USEFUL INFORMATION WITH A SLATE OF SPEAKERS AIMED AT PROVIDING INFORMATION TO NAVIGATE AGING SUCCESSFULLY. THREE SPEAKERS, 25 VENDORS, MORE THAN 80 GUESTS, AND 20 OR MORE VOLUNTEERS CONVERGED FOR A SUCCESSFUL MORNING RAISING MORE THAN $7000 AND ADDING 40 NEW CONTACTS TO OUR DATABASE AS POTENTIAL VOLUNTEERS.
