Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
THE FOUNDATION IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT CORPORATION CHARTERED IN 1998 BY THE WHITE MOUNTAIN APACHE TRIBE (TRIBE) TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO THE TRIBES HISTORIC PRESERVATION, CULTURAL AND LANGUAGE PERPETUATION, AND OTHER HERITAGE EFFORTS. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.)
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2021, THE FORT APACHE INDIAN RESERVATION WAS STILL AMIDST MANY COVID INCIDENTS AMONG TRIBAL MEMBERS LIVING ON THE RESERVATION. THE NUMBERS FORCED TRIBAL DIGNITARIES TO SHUT DOWN THE 1.2 MILLION ACRES ON THE RESERVATION. THE CEO AND BUSINESS MANAGER HAD TO WORK FROM HOME, MAKING IT CHALLENGING FOR THE FACILITY CREW AS ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE TO SCHEDULE ON-SITE VISITS FOR ANY EMERGENCIES ON CAMPUS REGARDING TENANTS AND THE FACILITY. DESPITE THE IMPACT OF COVID, PLANNING FOR SEVERAL SUBSTANTIAL RESTORATION PROJECTS WAS COMPLETED IN 2021, ENSURING THAT SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS COULD BE LAUNCHED AFTER THE TRIBE LIFTED THE RESTRICTIONS. EVERY YEAR THE CEO, IN JANUARY OR FEBRUARY, PRESENTS TO THE TRIBAL COUNCIL, PROVIDING A REPORT OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND ANY SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR. ONE PRIMARY APPROVAL THE CEO SEEKS FROM THE TRIBAL COUNCIL IS APPROVING 2022 PROPOSED AND 2023 PRELIMINARY BUDGET. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.
