WPOH'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE OUTDOOR VENUES AND RELATED FACILITIES FOR APPROPRIATE GROUPS TO EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTY OF WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA OUTDOORS IN ORDER TO PROMOTE HEALING AND AN APPRECIATION AND EXPOSURE TO NATURE THROUGH HIKING, FISHING, CAMPING, AND HUNTING.

ON NOVEMBER 20, 2020, WPOH PURCHASED A 237-ACRE FARM, INCLUDING A FARMHOUSE AND OUTBUILDINGS IN RURAL VALLEY, PENNSYLVANIA.IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, THE OUTDOOR AREAS OF THE PROPERTY CONTINUED TO BE UTILIZED TO HOST WOUNDED WARRIOR EVENTS SPONSORED BY WOUNDED WARRIORS IN ACTION, A 501 (C)(3) CHARITY. THESE EVENTS FOCUSED ON USE OF THE PROPERTY FOR HUNTING AND FISHING BY PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS. DURING THE YEAR, THE HUNTING INFRASTRUCTURE WAS ALSO ENHANCED AND IMPROVED WITH THE ADDITION OF MULTIPLE HUNTING STANDS THAT WERE PURCHASED, CONSTRUCTED AND PUT IN PLACE WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF VOLUNTEERS. HABITAT PROPERTY IMPROVEMENTS WERE MADE THROUGHOUT THE PROPERTY AS WELL. AS NOTED PREVIOUSLY, TO FULFILL WPOH'S MISSION, THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PLANS TO MAKE AVAILABLE TO ELIGIBLE CHARITIES USE OF A MEETING FACILITY AS WELL AS THE EXISTING FARMHOUSE STRUCTURE. DURING 2022, CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS TO THE EXISTING STRUCTURE WERE INITIATED AND COMPLETED AND ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS FOR THE MEETING ROOM ADDITION (APPROXIMATELY 1,300 SQUARE FEET) WERE COMPLETED. IN 2023, PLANNING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ADDITION TOOK PLACE, INCLUDING MEETING WITH AND IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL CONTRACTORS. TOWARDS THE END OF THE FISCAL YEAR, CONSTRUCTION ON THE ADDITION BEGAN, CONSISTING PRIMARILY OF DEMOLITION WORK TO ENABLE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ADDITION ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE EXISTING FARMHOUSE. CONSTRUCTION HAS CONTINUED IN FISCAL YEAR 2024 WITH SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS BEING MADE TO DATE, INCLUDING FOUNDATION AND PAD CONSTRUCTION, FRAMING, ROOFING AND ROUGH OUT OF PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL WORK BEING COMPLETED AND INSPECTED.
