CHILD'S PLACE IS A CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER (CAC) THAT PROVIDES SERVICES TO CHILDREN WHO ARE VICTIMS OF CRIME OR WITNESSES SIGNIFICANT VIOLENCE. THE PURPOSE OF A CAC IS TO PROVIDE A SAFE, CHILD-FRIENDLY, NEUTRAL LOCATION FOR VICTIMS OF CRIMES TO TELL ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE AND RECEIVE ADVOCACY SERVICES TO ASSIST IN THE HEALING PROCESS. THE PURPOSE OF CHILD'S PLACE IS: * TO LISTEN TO CHILDREN'S EXPERIENCES IN A NEUTRAL CONVERSATION USING A DEVELOPMENTALLY SENSITIVE AND LEGALLY SOUND MANNER REGARDING ALLEGATIONS OF ABUSE AND EXPOSURE TO VIOLENCE; * TO FACILITATE AND COORDINATE A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM RESPONSE TO CHILD ABUSE; * TO HELP VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES ACCESS NECESSARY SERVICES, WHILE DEVELOPING RESILIENCY THROUGH CONTINUED INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT; AND * TO DEVELOP AND MANAGE RESOURCES AND PROGRAMMING TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY FOR PREVENTION, EDUCATION AND TRAUMA-INFORMED RESPONSES.
