UNITE HERE ACTION FUND IS ORGANIZED TO PROMOTE SOCIAL WELFARE WITHIN THE MEANING OF SECTION 501(C)(4) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE, INCLUDING BY ASSISTING HOSPITALITY WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO ACHIEVE ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND RACIAL JUSTICE IN WORKPLACES AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, AND PROMOTING FULL PARTICIPATION IN CIVIC LIFE.

UNITE HERE ACTION FUND CO-SPONSORED WITH CIVIL RIGHTS GROUPS AND OTHERS THE NATIONAL FREEDOM RIDE FOR VOTING RIGHTS, WHICH FEATURED PUBLIC RALLIES, DEMONSTRATIONS AND CARAVANS ACROSS THE COUNTRY BRINGING ATTENTION TO THE INCREASING AND DANGEROUS THREATS TO VOTING RIGHTS AND THE NEED FOR NATIONAL AND STATE LEGISLATION TO PROTECT VOTING RIGHTS AND CIVIL RIGHTS. THE FREEDOM RIDE FOR VOTING RIGHTS WAS MODELED ON THE FREEDOM RIDES OF THE 1960S THAT PLAYED A VITAL ROLE IN THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT.
UNITE HERE ACTION FUND CONDUCTED A MAJOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM FOR HOSPITALITY WORKERS, FOCUSING ON WRITTEN AND VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS, TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS, AND APPLICATIONS OF MATH.
UNITE HERE ACTION FUND PROMOTED AND GATHERED SIGNATURES FOR A PROSPECTIVE BALLOT MEASURE TO ADVANCE HOUSING AFFORDABILITY.
