CATALYZING CHANGE FOR A MORE RESILIENT AND EQUITABLE SMALL-BUSINESS ECOSYSTEM ACROSS THE STATE OF COLORADO. IGNITING THE TRANSFORMATION OF COLORADO'S SMALL-BUSINESS ECOSYSTEM, WE BRING TOGETHER INNOVATIVE THINKERS, SMALL-BUSINESS OWNERS AND ENTREPRENEURS, AND NON-PROFIT AND CIVIC PARTNERS TO COLLABORATIVELY TACKLE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES FACING SMALL BUSINESSES. THE GAP FUND IS A GRANT AND LOW-INTEREST LOAN MAKING PROGRAM FUNDING BY BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE MONIES. BY THE END OF 2020 $26,000,000 WAS DISTRIBUTED IN THE FORM OF GRANTS WITH PRIORITY GIVEN TO SMALL BUSINESSES WITH LESS THAN 25 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES, THOSE OWNED BY BIPOC, WOMEN, AND VETERANS, AS WELL AS THOSE LOCATED IN RURAL COLORADO. FUNDING WAS DISTRIBUTED TO 2,064 BUSINESSES THROUGH A NETWORK OF 13 REGIONAL LOAN FUNDS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS.
ALONG WITH FUNDING, WE BUILT A SET OF PROGRAMS THAT DIRECTLY SERVED AN ADDITIONAL 8,000 SMALL BUSINESSES. THESE PROGRAMS CONNECTED BUSINESS OWNERS WITH MENTORSHIP, MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES, PPE AND OTHER REOPENING SUPPORT, AS WELL AS EXTERNAL MARKETING TO TELL THE STORIES OF RESILIENT BUSINESSES. IN TOTAL NEARLY 400 VOLUNTEERS WORKED ACROSS THESE PROGRAMS AND DIRECTLY WITH SMALL BUSINESSES.
