THE FEDERAL WAY BLACK COLLECTIVE IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING VOICE BUILDING STRATEGY AND DRIVING CHANGE IN COMMUNITIES OF COLOR THROUGH POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND THE CREATION OF RESOURCES THAT ARE EQUITABLE AND CULTURALLY REFLECTIVE.

RELATIONSHIP-BASED FAMILY CONNECTION PROGRAM CALLED COMMUNITY COALITIONS AND EMPOWERMENT PROJECT CCEP. IT HAS STRENGTH-BASED APPROACHES THAT HONOR THE BLACK CULTURE IN SOUTH KING COUNTY MAINLY IN FEDERAL WAY. WE ROUTINELY PROVIDE CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE SERVICES AS WELL AS PROMOTE INITIATIVES THAT ARE ANCHORED ON A SOCIAL JUSTICE INITIATIVE THAT IS DRIVEN BY A MOVEMENT AND NOT A MOMENT. FWBC WILL PROVIDES POSITIVE COMMUNAL SPACES FOR FAMILIES TO COME TOGETHER CONNECT AND HEAL. THE PROJECT FOCUSES ON A HOLISTIC PROCESS THAT AUTHENTICALLY SERVES FAMILIES. WE ALSO UTILIZE MULTI-GENERATIONAL APPROACHES THAT FOCUS ON SOCIOECONOMIC STABILITY THAT PROMOTE AN EQUITY DRIVEN UPWARD MOBILITY TRAJECTORY. OUR MISSION IS TO BRING FAMILIES TOGETHER BY CONNECTING THEM TO RESOURCES AND SERVICES THAT PROVIDE STABLE AND CULTURALLY REFLECTIVE CHILDCARE.


THE CHILD CARE INITIATIVE WILL FUND TRUSTED STATEWIDE INTERMEDIARIES COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS AND TRIBES WITH STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH NETWORKS OF CHILD CARE PROVIDERS AND THE CAPACITY TO ADMINISTER FLEXIBLE GRANTS TO LICENSED FAMILY CHILD CARE BUSINESSES IN WASHINGTON. THIS INITIATIVE WILL PRIORITIZE CHILD CARE BUSINESS OWNERS WHO ARE BLACK INDIGENOUS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR BIPOC GIVEN THE DISPROPORTIONATE IMPACTS OF COVID-19 ON THESE POPULATIONS. WHILE REACHING ALL PARTS OF THE WASHINGTON STATE THE INITIATIVE WILL ALSO PRIORITIZE FAMILY CHILD CARE BUSINESSES IN MORE RURAL AND REMOTE AREAS THAT SERVE A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF ESSENTIAL WORKERS OR BIPOC CHILDREN.


PROVIDE CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY APPROPRIATE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND OUTREACH SERVICES TO BUSINESSES OWNED AND OPERATED BY PEOPLE FROM HISTORICALLY UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES CULTURES AND POPULATIONS SUCH AS BLACK INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF COLOR; ETHNIC AND RACIAL MINORITIES; IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES; AMERICAN INDIANS AND ALASKA NATIVES; AND LGBTQ+
