CASA ORTIZ, CIRCA 1829 IS THE LONGEST INHABITED RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE IN TEXAS, IS A JEWEL TO BE PRESERVED AND CHERISHED. BY INHABITING THE STRUCTURE, WE KEEP IT ALIVE BY ACTIVE USE AND AVAILABILITY TO INDIVIDUALS. IT WILL BE OPEN DURING OPERATING HOURS AS WELL AS BEING MADE AVAILABLE FOR WEBB COUNTY HERITAGE AND OTHER ENTITIES WHO WANT TO SHARE IT AND PROMOTE IT THROUGH TOURS AND VISITS TO THE HISTORIC SITE. THE INTERIOR OF CASA ORTIZ WOULD ALSO BE USED FOR TEMPORARY AND ROTATING GALLERY SPACE. REGIONAL ARTISTS AS WELL AS LOCAL STUDENTS WOULD HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT THEIR WORK AND GREET PATRONS IN MEET AND GREET EVENTS. SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED INCLUDE MUSIC, THEATER VISUAL AND AUDIO ART CLASSES AND SUPPORT FOR SUCH IN THE COMMUNITY. OUR PROGRAMMING WILL FOCUS ON SUPPORTING AND MARKETING OF THE CULTURAL DISTRICT LOCALLY, REGIONALLY, NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. WITH THE LAREDO CULTURAL DISTRICT DESIGNATION, AVENUES FOR PROMOTION WITH THE TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION WILL INCREASE. IN ADDITION OPPORTUNITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO BRING EXHIBITS, ARTIST AND EVENTS TO ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCES IN THE MANY VENUES WITHIN THE CULTURAL DISTRICT AND OUR COMMUNITY.
