THE COMMUNITY FIRM PARTNERS WITH LOW INCOME AND WORKING PEOPLE TO BUILD ECONOMIC AND RACIAL EQUITY. WE DO THIS BY CONFRONTING ECONOMIC ABUSE AND INVESTING IN COMMUNITY WEALTH.

THROUGH THE COLORADO STABILITY FUND, A PROGRAM OF CEDP, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE TO RENTERS FACING EVICTION OR DISPLACEMENT. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS, THE FUND ISSUES QUICK, ACCURATE RENTAL ASSISTANCE CHECKS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS WHEN NEEDED TO STABILIZE A FAMILY. THE COMMUNITY FIRM SERVED MORE THAN 5000 PEOPLE IN MORE THAN 2000 HOUSEHOLDS. IN 2020 AND EARLY 2021, THE COMMUNITY FIRM, MANAGED AN EXPERIMENTAL RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BOTH IN-HOUSE AND THROUGH COMMUNITY PARTNERS. THE IN-HOUSE PROGRAM UTILIZED A HYBRID GRANT-LOAN STRUCTURE WITH ALL LOANS FORGIVEN IN 2021. THE EXTERNAL PROGRAM OPERATED THROUGH COUNTY GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND SOUGHT TO STABILIZE TENANTS THROUGH GRANTS THAT PAID PAST AND FUTURE RENT, OFTEN AT A REDUCTION OF FULL-FACE VALUE.
THROUGH CED LAW, THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO RENTERS FACING EVICTION IN THE STATE OF COLORADO. MANAGED SEPARATELY FROM THE COLORADO STABILITY FUND, CED LAW PROVIDED LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO HUNDREDS OF COLORADANS FACING EVICTION OR STRUGGLING WITH CONSUMER AND HOUSING DEBT BURDENS. DEPENDING ON CLIENT NEED, ATTORNEYS PROVIDE ADVICE, LIMITED ASSISTANCE REPRESENTATION, OR FULL-SERVICE LEGAL REPRESENTATION. CED LAW ALSO MANAGES LEGAL AID CLINICS ALONGSIDE COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
THE COMMUNITY FIRM'S CLIENTS HAVE PUSHED THE ORGANIZATION TO AMPLIFY THEIR EXPERIENCES INTO POLICY CHANGE. THE COMMUNITY FIRM'S PUBLIC POLICY AND ORGANIZING FUNCTION INVESTS IN STORYTELLING AND DATA TO INFORM POLICY DEBATES.
