YOUTH ACCESS TO HOCKEY: ONE ROOF FOUNDATION LEVERAGES RESOURCES TO CREATE ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITY IN HOCKEY AND LIFE FOR MARGINALIZED AND BIPOC YOUTH AND COMMUNITIES. THE FOUNDATION BRINGS HOCKEY TO HISTORICALLY UNDERSERVED AND BIPOC COMMUNITIES BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, EQUIPMENT DONATIONS, AND BALL HOCKEY TRAINING TO TITLE I SCHOOLS AND YOUTH-FOCUSED NONPROFITS; AND ENSURES EQUITABLE ACCESS TO ICE TIME AND PROGRAMMING AT KRAKEN COMMUNITY ICEPLEX . THE FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH REFUGEE WOMEN'S ALLIANCE (REWA) TO PROVIDE A FREE 32-WEEK LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN, INCLUDING TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE ICE RINK. THIS PROGRAM WAS A RESULT OF COMMUNITY STUDIES THAT SHOWED COST AND TRANSPORTATION AS MAJOR BARRIERS TO HOCKEY ACCESS. HOLISTICALLY THE PROGRAM IS A 3-YEAR CYCLE THAT SEES SKATERS ADVANCE TO HOCKEY OR FIGURE SKATING PROGRAMS AT KRAKEN COMMUNITY ICEPLEX, TO ESTABLISH GREATER EQUITY IN HOCKEY AND INSTILL CONFIDENCE AND LEADERSHIP IN KIDS FROM DIVERSE AND LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDES GRANTS AND SUPPORT TO A VARIETY OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WITH MISSIONS THAT ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR YOUTH HOCKEY ACCESS PILLAR.
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE: ONE ROOF FOUNDATION ELEVATES THE VOICES OF AND SUPPORTS COMMUNITIES DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED BY CLIMATE CHANGE. LOW-INCOME AND PREDOMINATELY BIPOC NEIGHBORHOODS IN OUR REGION FACE A HIGHER DEGREE OF ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FACTORS INCLUDING AIR POLLUTION, UNSAFE DRINKING WATER, RISK OF FLOOD, AND POOR INFRASTRUCTURE. THE FOUNDATION PARTNERS WITH AND SUPPORTS THESE COMMUNITIES TO BOTH OFFSET THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND PROVIDE ACCESS TO SAFE PLACES TO PLAY. SUPPORT IS PROVIDED IN A VARIETY OF WAYS - INCLUDING CLEANUP OF THE IMPACTED AREAS, SPONSORSHIP OF THE DUWAMISH RIVER COMMUNITY COALITION RIVER FESTIVAL, RENOVATION OF SKYWAY PARK, AND RAISING AWARENESS VIA ARTICLES AND SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDES GRANTS AND SUPPORT TO A VARIETY OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WITH MISSIONS THAT ARE ALIGNED WITH OUR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PILLAR.
YOUTH HOMELESSNESS: ONE ROOF FOUNDATION HAS FORGED A HOLISTIC AND LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIP WITH YOUTHCARE - ONE OF THE FIRST SHELTERS TO SERVE HOMELESS YOUTH ON THE WEST COAST - AND COMMUNITY PASSAGEWAYS TO HELP END YOUTH HOMELESSNESS IN OUR REGION. THE FOUNDATION RAISES FUNDS FOR YOUTHCARE AND COMMUNITY PASSAGEWAYS TO PROVIDE SHELTER, HOUSING, EDUCATION, AND EMPLOYMENT TRAINING TO THOUSANDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE EACH YEAR. THE FOUNDATION AMPLIFIES THEIR MESSAGE TO OUR FANS AND THE BROADER COMMUNITY THROUGH NEWS ARTICLES AND SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS; AND WORKS CLOSELY WITH THE SEATTLE KRAKEN AND CLIMATE PLEDGE ARENA TO PROVIDE JOB TRAININGS, INTERNSHIPS, AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT THEIR DIFFERENT FACILITIES TO HELP IN THE FIGHT AGAINST YOUTH HOMELESSNESS.
