CANCER ADVOCACY GROUP OF LOUISIANA'S PROGRAM SERVICE WAS PASSING STATE-WIDE LEGISLATION THAT BENEFITS CANCER PATIENTS. CAGLA ADVOCATED ON BEHALF OF AND HELPED PASS THE FOLLOWING TWO LAWS IN 2021. 1. SENATE BILL 84- AUTHORED BY SENATOR KIRK TALBOT WHICH DEALS WITH "GENOMIC TESTING FOR CANCER MUTATIONS." THIS BILL (NOW STATE LAW) REQUIRES INSURANCE TO COVER BIOMARKER TESTING SO THAT THE WORLD OF PRECISION MEDICINE IS OPEN TO YOU IF YOU ARE DIAGNOSED WITH AN APPLICABLE CANCER. 2. SENATE BILL 119- AUTHORED BY SENATOR TARVER- THIS BILL (NOW STATE LAW) EXPANDS HEALTH CARE COVERAGE FOR BREAST CANCER SCREENINGS IN WOMEN.
