CANCER CARE SERVICES SUPPORTS CANCER PATIENTS, CARES FOR CAREGIVERS AND EMPOWERS SURVIVORS TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF CANCER IN TARRANT COUNTY.

CCS PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO 570 INDIVIDUALS IN TARRANT COUNTY, SUCH AS PAYMENTS FOR HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS, CANCER-RELATED PRESCRIPTION COPAYS, NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMNTS, TRANSPORTATION TO/FROM TREATMENT, AND EMERGENCY FUNDS FOR CRISIS NEEDS LIKE FOOD AND SHELTER. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE DECREASES TRAUMA AND DISTRESS, WHICH IMPROVES SURVIVAL RATES. FINANCIAL NEED IS BASED ON FEDERAL POVERTY GUIDELINES, AND AVAILABILITY OF RESOURCES. CCS ALSO PROVIDES FINANCIAL ADVOCACY TO HELP CANCER PATIENTS AND SURVIVORS AVOID OR REDUCE MEDICAL DEBT. ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT NO COST.
SOCIAL SERVICES WERE PROVIDED BY CCS TO 3,100 INDIVIDUALS IN TARRANT COUNTY, INCLUDING CANCER PATIENTS, SURVIVORS, AND CAREGIVERS - AT NO COST TO THEM. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES INCLUDE COUNSELING AND ART THERAPY FOR TEENS AND ADULTS, PLUS PLAY THERAPY AND THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN. HOLISTIC SERVICES INCLUDE SUPPORT GROUPS, SOCIAL ACTIVITIES TO REDUCE ISOLATION, RESOURCE AND REFERRAL ASSISTANCE, HEALTH EDUCATION, AND NEEDS ASSESSMENTS FOLLOWED BY EMOTIONAL/FINANCIAL/LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FOR ANYONE IMPACTED BY CANCER.
