AS WE AS A COUNTRY BEGIN TO TRY AND COME OUT OF THE MOST DEVASTATING ASPECTS OF THE COVID PANDEMIC, OUR COMMUNITY WAS LEFT WITH THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN NEED AND HURTING. THROUGH PROGRAMS LIKE DRIVE THROUGH FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS, COMMUNITY FOOD AND RESOURCE FESTIVALS, COMMUNITY GARDENS, AND AGRIBUSINESS CLASSES, FOOD ON THE MOVE HAS SERVED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF INDIVIDUALS DURING THIS UNPRECEDENTED TIME. WE OPERATE 24 COMMUNITY GROW BEDS LOCATED IN FOOD DESERTS, WHERE COMMUNITY MEMBERS LEARN HOW TO GARDEN AND CAN HARVEST FRESH PRODUCE JUST STEPS AWAY FROM THEIR HOMES. WE PROVIDED 100 HOLIDAY MEALS TO GIRLS SCOUTS LIVING IN FOSTER CARE BECAUSE A PARENT HAS BEEN INCARCERATED. FOOD ON THE MOVE HELPED LOCAL BUSINESSES REMAIN OPEN BY PURCHASING FAMILY STYLE MEALS AND DISTRIBUTING THEM TO FAMILIES IN NEED. FOOD ON THE MOVE LAUNCHED A SUCCESSFUL AGRIBUSINESS PROGRAM FOR 6TH 8TH GRADERS TEACHING AQUAPONICS, HYDROPONICS, TRADITIONAL FARMING, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND FOOD JUSTICE/HEALTHY EATING. 2021 YEAR IN REVIEW:- APPROXIMATELY 1,500,000 LBS OF PRODUCE DISTRIBUTED- 12,996 VOLUNTEER HOURS- 1,800 POUNDS OF PRODUCE GROWN- 237 6TH 8TH GRADERS ENROLLED IN OUR AGRIBUSINESS CLASS
