DURING THE 2022 TAX YEAR, TERRAFFIRM MADE THE FOLLOWING GRANTS: (1) TO POINT BLUE CONSERVATION SCIENCE TO DEVELOP A FIRE STEWARDSHIP STRATEGIC INITIATIVE, PROVIDE COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS ON PRESCRIBED FIRE, AND PROVIDE STAFF MEMBERS WITH PRESCRIBED FIRE EXPERIENCE AND CONTINUING EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES. THIS WILL ALLOW 3-4 OF THE 13 STAFF MEMBERS, TRAINED UNDER A PREVIOUS GRANT, TO PARTICIPATE IN COMMUNITY LED PRESCRIBED BURNS (TOTALING OVER 150 ACRES), PRESCRIBED FIRE TRAINING EXCHANGE (TREX) EVENTS, AND NATIONAL WILDFIRE COORDINATION GROUP (NWCG) FIRE CERTIFICATION COURSES. AND (2) TO POINT BLUE CONSERVATION SCIENCE TO SUPPORT THEIR RANGELAND CARBON MANAGEMENT PROJECT, WHICH HAS THE FOLLOWING GOALS: (A) DEVELOP EASY-TO-FOLLOW BLUEPRINTS THAT HELP RANCHERS AND TECHNICAL SERVICE PROVIDERS TRACK HOW CARBON CHANGES IN RESPONSE TO COMMONLY RECOMMENDED PRACTICES, STARTING IN CALIFORNIA AND SCALING TO NEW MEXICO, (B) FOR RIPARIAN RESTORATION, SILVOPASTURE, AND RANGE PLANTING, MEASURE CHANGES IN CARBON OVER TIME ON WORKING RANCHES ACROSS CALIFORNIA. DISTINGUISH BETWEEN TYPES OF SOIL ORGANIC MATTER TO ESTIMATE BENEFITS TO NEAR-TERM SOIL FERTILITY AND LONG-TERM CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION, AND (C) USE DATA COLLECTED FROM THE STATEWIDE STUDY TO EVALUATE AND IMPROVE PREDICTIVE BIOGEOCHEMICAL MODELS THAT ARE CURRENTLY GUIDING, OR HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO GUIDE, POLICY AND IMPLEMENTATION.
