AS RWANDA CONTINUED TO CLIMB OUT OF THE INCREASE IN EXTREME POVERTY CAUSED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, IN 2021 CITY OF JOY INCREASED ITS GRANTS TOWARD EDUCATION AND LONG-TERM POVERTY ALLEVIATION BY 15. WE GRANTED 230,710 TO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE, NUTRITION, CLOTHING, AND EDUCATION TO 300 CHILDREN AND FAMILIES LIVING IN EXTREME POVERTY. THE BENEFICIARIES OF THESE GRANTS ACHIEVED SOME THE HIGHEST TEST SCORES IN THE COUNTRY OF RWANDA. 85 FINISHED IN THE HIGHEST DIVISION OF NATIONAL TESTING SHARED BY ONLY 5.7 OF OTHER TEST TAKERS IN RWANDA. THE REMAINING 15 FINISHED IN THE SECOND HIGHEST DIVISION PLACING THEM IN THE TOP 27.2 IN THE NATION. THESE GRANTS ALSO ENABLED JOY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL TO LAUNCH A SECONDARY SCHOOL PREPARING FOR THE CONTINUED EDUCATION OF ITS STUDENT BODY THROUGH SECONDARY SCHOOL.
