KIDCARE NUTRITION SPONSOR'S MISSION IS WORKING WITH LICENSED IN-HOME CHILD CARE PROVIDERS, THROUGH EDUCATION AND MONITORING, AS THEY MEET THE ESTABLISHED USDA CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM GUIDELINES FOR REIMBURSEMENT. WE SUPPORT PROVIDERS IN THE SERVING OF NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO THE CHILDREN IN THEIR CARE.

KIDCARE NUTRITION SPONSOR (KNS) SPONSORS THE USDA'S CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM (CACFP) IN THIRTEEN COUNTIES THROUGHOUT NORTHEASTERN COLORADO. IN THESE COUNTIES, KNS WORKED TO ENSURE THAT WELL-BALANCED, NUTRITIOUS MEALS WERE SERVED TO THE CHILDREN ENROLLED IN PARTICIPATING LICENSED CHILD CARE HOMES. THROUGH NUTRITION EDUCATION (WORKSHOPS, MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS, AND SELF-STUDY UNITS) AND PROGRAM MONITORING VISITS/DESK REVIEWS, KNS WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL REIMBURSEMENT TO THE PROVIDERS FOR THE MEALS THEY SERVED THAT MET THE CACFP GUIDELINES. IN ADDITION, NUTRITION EDUCATION WAS PROVIDED TO PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN IN THE CHILD CARE HOMES THROUGH NEWSLETTERS AND TO THE CHILD CARE CHILDREN BY WAY OF ACTIVITIES DURING THE MONITORING VISITS.
