PPMNY EMPOWERS PEOPLE TO FIND BETTER HEALTH AND OVERCOME CHRONIC DISEASE THROUGH WHOLE FOOD, PLANT-BASED NUTRITION. WE OFFER EVIDENCE-BASED EDUCATION, RESOURCES, AND SUPPORT TO CREATE COMMUNITY AND INSPIRE CHANGE THROUGHOUT THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA.

COMMUNITY-WIDE EDUCATION & RESOURCES: PPMNY OFFERS ACCESSIBLE VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON EVENTS THAT EDUCATE DIVERSE RESIDENTS OF THE NEW YORK METRO AREA ON THE LARGE AND GROWING BASE OF EVIDENCE SUPPORTING PLANT-BASED NUTRITION FOR OPTIMAL HEALTH AND HEALING -- AND ALSO PROVIDE SKILL-BUILDING AND SUPPORT FOR ADOPTING A HEALTH-PROMOTING DIET AND LIFESTYLE. EFFORTS INCLUDE OUTREACH THROUGH HEALTH AND COMMUNITY FAIRS, PRESENTATIONS AND PANELS, FILM SCREENINGS, CULINARY DEMONSTRATIONS, COOK-ALONGS/COMMUNAL MEAL PREP, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND MARKET AND SHOPPING TOURS. COMPLEMENTARY RESOURCES/TOOLS INCLUDE A COMMUNITY-GENERATED RECIPE APP AND CULTURALLY-SPECIFIC MEAL PREPARATION GUIDES. MANY PROGRAMS AND EVENTS ARE INITIATED AND IMPLEMENTED BY MEMBERS OF PPMNY'S GRASSROOTS LEADERSHIP NETWORK TOGETHER WITH SUBJECT-MATTER EXPERTS IN MEDICINE, DIETETICS, BEHAVIOR CHANGE, AND CULINARY ARTS.DIETARY CHANGE SUPPORT: PPMNY PRESENTS ENGAGING PROGRAMS THAT DEEPEN PARTICIPANTS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS FOR MEANINGFUL DIETARY CHANGE, ALLOWING THEM TO ACHIEVE THEIR HEALTH GOALS. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE RETREATS AND INTENSIVES, STRUCTURED NUTRITION AND COOKING CLASSES, CULINARY AND LIFESTYLE SKILL-BUILDING WORKSHOPS, AND OUR "JUMPSTART" PROGRAM THAT GUIDES A FULL TRANSITION TO WHOLE FOOD, PLANT-BASED NUTRITION IN JUST A FEW WEEKS. PPMNY PARTNERS WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO BRING THESE PROGRAMS TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS IN A SUPPORTIVE GROUP ENVIRONMENT.GRASSROOTS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: PPMNY CULTIVATES AND EQUIPS A DIVERSE NETWORK OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGHOUT THE METRO AREA TO SERVE AS AMBASSADORS OF HEALTHY EATING WITHIN THEIR HOME COMMUNITIES. THESE VOLUNTEERS AND CONTRACTED EDUCATORS TAKE ON MANY ROLES IN OUTREACH, ORGANIZING, FACILITATION, EDUCATION, MENTORSHIP, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, AND RESOURCE CURATION/CREATION TO ACHIEVE OUR MISSION.
