ESPERANZA'S MISSION STATEMENT IS "EMPOWERING NORTHWOOD DAY LABORERS AND FAMILIES TO THRIVE." VISION: IT IS THE ESPERANZA CENTER'S VISION TO SEE THAT RESIDENTS IN THE NORTHWOOD AREA AND ALL OF WEST PALM BEACH APPRECIATE THEIR LATINO AND OTHER IMMIGRANT NEIGHBORS AND THE ROLE THEY PLAY IN THE COMMUNITY, AND THAT THESE COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN PARTICULAR FEEL SAFE, WELCOME AND ABLE TO ACCESS THE RESOURCES THEY NEED TO LIVE HEALTHY AND PRODUCTIVE LIVES. THESE RESOURCES INCLUDE NUTRITION AND HEALTH CARE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING, LEGAL SERVICES, WORKFORCE TRAINING, ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE AND ADULT LITERACY CLASSES; AND SUPPORT SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE ESPERANZA COMMUNITY CENTER. GOALS TO ACHIEVE ITS MISSION AND HELP REALIZE ITS VISION, THE ESPERANZA CENTER FUNCTIONS AS A SERVICE PROVIDER, REFERRAL CENTER AND CATALYST TO MEET THE FOLLOWING GOALS: "PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT AND PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF LABORERS SEEKING DAY LABOR WORK IN THE NORTHWOOD AREA. "PROVIDE NORTHWOOD DAY LABORERS AND FAMILIES WITH ACCESS TO LIFE SUPPORTING RESOURCES AND SERVICES INCLUDING NUTRITION, HEALTH EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE, LEGAL RIGHTS EDUCATION, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, ENGLISH AND SPANISH LITERACY EDUCATION, AND FINANCIAL GUIDANCE. "PROVIDE ACCESS TO PROFESSIONAL SKILLS BUILDING AND WORKFORCE TRAINING. "ASSIST LATINO RESIDENTS WITH ASSIMILATING INTO THE WEST PALM BEACH COMMUNITY WITH RESPECT TO LANGUAGE, CULTURE, BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS, ETC. WHILE PRESERVING THEIR OWN CULTURAL HERITAGE.
